I may win this one–I’m pushing fifty very hard and I’ve been to McDonald’s fewer than ten times. As a kid I had to go there a few times when the 'rents would get us fast food because they were going out and didn’t want to cook but I put my foot down and insisted on either Taco Hell or nothing when it came to fast food. Then as a teenager I made the grave mistake of allowing my friends to drag me into one where I ordered a Quarter Pounder, plain. It took them almost twenty minutes to get it to me and it was still cold in the middle and oozing pink goo! I nearly threw up the one bite I took out of it. The very last time I got within smelling distance of a McDs was one late night about thirty years ago while driving with a pounding headache–I needed something to wash down aspirin so I got an iced tea from the only open place. It was so foul I threw most of it out and it gave me a stomach ache. Never been back since. I’m not vegetarian, will go to other fast food places but will never give even one red cent to that abortion palace masquerading as a restaurant.
I’m in the running for least. Never liked them. In all my years in Thailand, I think I’ve eaten at one once, MAYBE twice. Never hit them all that much stateside in my younger days.
I’m a vegetarian, so I can’t eat much there except the breakfasts. I do like their egg & cheese biscuit, though, and if I’m running late for school I’ll go through the drive-thru and get one of those instead of fixing breakfast at home. I do that several times a month. I ate there a lot as a kid, but no idea how to quantify any of that into actual numbers.
For non-breakfast fast food I get the veggie burger at Burger King or go to Taco Bell.
Yeah, but they bake them now. If they still deep-fried them, we’d all be eating there every day and liking it! Those babies were greasy little rectangles of sheer foodgasm.
I’ve eaten there thousands of times, probably. In my teens, McD’s was the biggest sponsor of swim meets, and they had that disastrous 1984 Olympics give-away… I think I ate nothing but McDonalds for several weeks while my parents were out of town. And it was all free.
Later on, it was pretty much at least once per week, 'till I finally stopped cold turkey over a year ago. And I’ll be 41 next month. So it was a lot of greasy, delicious food.
God, I miss Big Macs. Especially the 2 for $2 sales.
But when the Big Mac is the only piece of food to ever make my chest tighten up uncomfortably, it loses a certain appeal, at least as far as survivability goes.
Maybe a couple hundred times ever, mostly as a kid and college student. Our town didn’t have one, so I could only eat there when we were at a neighboring town. In the last ten years, probably less than ten times and that’s mostly when on vacation. It’s not that I hate McD’s; I just never really see it as a potential stopping point.
When I do go, I usually get a cheeseburger, ketchup only (it’s the only place on earth I eat a plain cheeseburger with ketchup.) I might also get a small fry (not a huge fry fan, so a small is enough). I save my calories for a sundae.
Well, when I was a kid, McDonald’s was only for special occasions, and all I’d ever eat there anyway was the Filet O’Fish (I didn’t like hamburgers). Then I became a teenager and my best friend had a car and we’d go driving around and always picked up a coffee or two from the drive through. But I only had coffee money - couldn’t afford actual food. Became an adult, and still was broke a lot so I didn’t go there a lot, but started liking Big Macs as well as the Filets O’Fish. As I got older, I got more money and started eating there more. Then I became a mother and had McDonald’s whenever I wanted to give son a treat or a reward. Then the son got older and got a job at McDonald’s and I gained ten pounds because he’d bring me home food. Then he quit and went to work at Target and I lost the weight, thank god. Now he works at Linen’s and Things, I get a good discount thanks to him, and don’t go to McDonald’s ALL that much, but that’s where I’m having lunch today.
I used to eat at McDonald’s a lot because I lived next to one. But I would only eat the fries and occasionally eat a small hamburger (don’t care for large burgers and don’t really care for the Big Mac).
My cousin who plays X-Box and is into soccer and basketball - he eats only fries too. What can I say, the fries are a part of our diet. And they’re pretty good. Golden, crunchy and they come in those retro containers. I’m lovin’ it.
Like most people here, I ate at McDonald’s a lot more as a kid, at least twice a week. When I was in high school went went there every day on our lunch, so at five times per week that was my peak. Once I got into adulthood and realized how unhealthy their food really is I cut way back. Nowadays I may set foot inside a McDonald’s only a couple times a year. My default fast food place now is Wendy’s, whom I visit a couple times a month.
