Who Here Has NEVER Smoked A Cigarette?

Never had one - tobacco, pot, or anything else.

I’ve never smoked cigarettes or anything else. Besides the fact it wouldn’t mix well with asthma, I’m just not interested. My parents never smoked but my aunt did (does), and I disliked visiting her house as the smell was everywhere.

My mom’s dad was a heavy smoker, and her mom, a SAHM housewife, spent most of her time in the smoke-laden house. She also had a congenital lung condition. She died when my mom was 18, and Mom is sure that all the passive smoking was a big contributor to that.

I’m pretty sure my mom has never tried smoking either, yeah.

And my grandfather was always grumpy when I knew him, since he had emphysema or something and was an alcoholic too. That’s all I remember about him, is that he was grumpy. Yay, smoking.

I had to do this before. When my mom left I decided to clean the house from top to bottom, the first decent cleaning it had in a good 15 years. The house had was stained with a good 20 years build up of tabacco residue from two chain smokers. I was washing the walls in my basement. Afterwards they were more beautiful than I’ve ever seen them before, but about every five feet I would have to empty the dirty water. It was black, like cola.

I never have, though I lived in a house with smokers. That stuff’s nasty!

Never, even though every single member of my family, except my grandmothers, smoked or still smokes.

Another non-smoker here. Never have, never will. Helps that I come from a family of non-smokers, aside from one half-brother who reckoned he did smoke for a bit, then quit.

Both parents smoked. Cigarettes are are an amazingly disgusting habit. I’d sooner roll in feces than smoke a cigarette.

I’m 41, and I’ve never even held a lit cigarette, let alone smoked one.

I’ve never smoked anything. Never tried it once. The idea of sucking in a bunch of smoke makes me want to puke.

Me. Not tobacco, anyway.

Had asthma problems as a child, kept me away from it.

My mom also told me once that she had smoked for a few years in her twenties and then quit, never touched them since. She was in her 40’s when she told me the story, and she said she still missed them. The thought of something having a hold over me even after not touching it for 20 years… it bothered me too much.

I have never smoked a cigarette, joint or anything, unless you count the cigar that a friend of mine tried to get me to smoke at a Christmas party 2 years back- I think I had 3 small puffs, turned green, and spent the rest of the night feeling really pukey.

I didn’t inhale it, because my friend and the others said that inhaling cigars is a bad idea, but it made me feel terrible anyway.

The main reason I never smoked anything else is because my parents were vehemently anti-smoking and talked about how nasty and gross it was- my mother’s parents smoked HEAVILY until about 1969, when my grandfather quit, but my grandmother smoked 2 packs a day for another 20-25 years, until I was in high school.

I remember going to visit and being congested and sick when I’d come home. I also remember her baking me cookies that tasted great at her house, but tasted like cigarette butts when I took some home.

Never smoked, never held a tobacco product, never came close, never had any desire to.

I find it interesting that most of the ‘never smoked’ crowd in this thread grew up with smoking parents. I’m rather the opposite, no one in my immediate family smoked but I grew up to be a smoker. My mom did tell me that she smoked for about 2 weeks when she was in beauty school which was years before I was born.

Is it like that for everybody? I assumed I was never even offered drugs or cigarettes in high school, let alone pressured to try anything, because I was (and am) the Queen of Dorks. I’ve never smoked a cigarette, tobacco or pot. I’ve had massive allergy attacks from secondhand pot smoke.

Me! (Well, tobacco- are we limiting it to tobacco?)

This was my “Never have I ever” question in the game thread…

Add me to the growing list. Never smoked one cig, cigar, pipe, or uncontrolled substances. :stuck_out_tongue:

My parents didn’t (and don’t) smoke and I have never smoked. My best friend in elementary school’s parents did smoke a lot, though, and her father had a heart attack when my friend and I were nine or ten.

My dad gave up smoking when I was about 8 or so. He burned my hand by accident - I was walking next to him, and I went to hold his hand, and put it right on the cigarette and got a nice little burn. it didn’t even scar but he felt so guilty that he put them out that day. I know he smoked a couple of times at work but he never did at home again.

That was early enough that it affected me deeply. My dad was not a good dad, by any measure, but he gave up smoking because it hurt me once. I never had an urge for a cigarette, and when it was offered, I always remembered his sacrifice and didn’t want any. It’s a strange correlation, but there it is.

Never smoked anything. Way too many smokers in my family.
