Who is Frank Reeder?

There is a road that runs through Pensacola, Florida called Frank Reeder Road. Who the devil is Frank Reeder?

How big is it? It could just be the guy who first lived on that road. I lived on a road named after the tiny old man who had lived in the little house at the end of the road for like 60 years.

That seems to be a two lane county road. Local roads are often named for people only known locally, and only at the time named. Could be anything from a memorial for a police officer killed in the line of duty to the businessman who funded a development on the road. Better to seek out local knowledge on this one - maybe ask somebody in county public works?

(I wonder if somebody ever created a “who’s THAT named for” site which would allow people to enter information about this sort of stuff, and provide an interface to look it up.)

The city of Montreal once published a book showing the history and derivation of every single street name in the city. Most of them came from now-obscure people from the city’s past, such as local officials and real estate developers.

I suspect it’s pretty much the same everywhere.

I figured as much. Thanks guys

Coincidentally, or not, a “Frank Reeder” from the same zip code as Frank Reeder Rd died in 2006, which is about the same time as “Frank Reeder Rd” starts showing up in Google news Archives.

Nah, Lexis-Nexis archives have references to Frank Reeder Road going back as far as 1999.
