I just finished building the bill of materials for the panel that I modeled and assembled. After lunch, I get to put all the bubbles on the drawing showing what goes where. Then I get to do it all over again with another panel. None of this is difficult, but some of it is really tedious. But it beats boredom, so there’s that.
**FCD **and I have decided that when I get home every day, we’re going to walk. His Dr told him he needs to walk, but he hates to. So we’ll harness up Higgs and start taking an afternoon stroll. I expect at first, we’ll maybe make it a couple of blocks, but I hope we’ll eventually be making a circuit of the neighborhood - it’s about a mile anna quarter. Right now, my poor sweetie tires pretty easily. Goodness knows, we both can use some exercise.
Hopefully this will help FCD. I had very similar surgery and I think it did. The physical therapist said that it was because walking rotated the muscles on both sides of the spine, which I think is fancy pants for it gently stretches those big muscles down your back. I hope he gets to feeling better soon.
We’re under a heat advisory or warning or something. All I know is I woke up too early 'cause it was hot. Blurf.
I got one this morning, the woman (on tape) was talking so quickly I almost didn’t hear the IRS, which is a signal for me to hang up.
I tend to chomp on my inner cheek now and then, occasionally drawing blood. The tongue must hurt a lot worse than that. Take care, Midget.
The woodwork is pretty much replaced (it had rotted quite a bit) and the leak in my roof is fixed (it was around the chimmy). They’re painting today and hopefully will start the inside work Friday or Monday. So far they seem to be an honest and competent bunch and I’m planning to give them a nice tip, once I figure out what a nice tip would be…
Meanwhile I have just agreed to go on a cruise in the Baltic for June of 2017 with the same group of knucklehea…I mean friends I went to S. Africa with. Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallin and St. Petersburg. Trying to talk my brother and sis-in-law to going with me, but given that most of the group is liberal and atheist and they are Rush Limbaugh type conservatives from the strictest Lutheran branch, I doubt it.
If any MMP’ers are curious, I can provide details…
Howdy Y’all! Da yahd is now all purtified and weed killer stuff has been applied. I have showered and had N.O.L. The rest of the day shall be devoted to sloth. I foresee nappage as a part of that cause I’s tahrd! Oh and I have a sinus headache. Thank you ragweed!
Metal Mouse, it sounds interesting for a European history buff like me, but I haz promised the DH that our next trip will be Hawai’i, with snorkeling and and hiking and sitting around. Let me know if you all decide to do an Alaskan cruise. I want that to be what we do after we do Hawai’i.
I had beef and broccoli for lunch, taken out of the freezer and nuked. It wasn’t bad, but I should have added more minute rice to it. To say the sauce was flavorful would be an understatement.
Laundry has been started, have other things to do.
The work never ends.
She definitely is a piglet of a pug, but we (mostly me) try really hard to restrict her food intake. And she gets lots of running around in the yard - we’ve got almost 2 acres fenced, and she’s explored most of it - especially along the road when school buses drive by! But I like the idea of her getting to know the neighborhood, on the chance that she gets out of the yard and goes exploring.
I need to start off by saying that despite some of the evidence to the contrary, my friends really are nice, normal, law abiding citizens.
Really they are.
However, I just got a call from my best friend, who just heard from another friend of hers that there is a warrant out for her arrest. She called me, quite upset, and I looked it up online and yes, there is a warrant out on her for failure to appear.
It’s only been out there for 8 years, and being that she has lived in the same house for 40 years, you wonder how it is that they never found her.
She’s a 69 year old, widowed grandmother.
Who knew my best friend is a wanted criminal?
Had to stop on the way home from irk last night at the CVS sto to get sinus pills as I was sneezing my haid off. Had to show my drivin’ license to purchase stoopid Allegra D. Works though.
When I tried to switch my driver’s license to Maine, I was informed that it couldn’t be done because I had an outstanding something in Massachusetts. I called Mass Motor Vehicle, and they told me that I had never paid a speeding ticket. She started asking me if I wanted details, and I said “Was it issued in July of 1996?” The lady confirmed that yes, it was, and it was still outstanding. I asked why nobody had contacted me looking for this money in the nineteen and a half years since, at least the first five of which had myself or my parents living at the address shown on my license at the time. She had no good answer. It still cost me almost $200 - $150 for the ticket, and $40 for a “late fee.” At least the late charges didn’t recur every year.
I came home to a real surprise - **FCD **made supper! He found a recipe for beef & broccoli in a crock pot! Unfortunately, we don’t have rice, so we’ll be eating it over noodles. It smells good. I wonder if this is the start of a new thing???
I made the broccoli beef crock pot recipe that was floating around my Facebook circles about a month or two ago. Came out pretty good! The only downer to the whole thing was needing to buy a bottle of sesame oil and only needing a couple teaspoons, but it really is a key flavor dimension for the dish.
My license plate adventure came out well also. When I got to the DMV, there was a line out the door, with a woman in a peachy/salmon colored top at the end of the line. I side-step the queue and go to the APPOINTMENTS line. Check in, get my numbered slip and wait for the canned voice from above to call out my number. My number is called, I go to the window, hand over my old plates, get the new personalized plates, tabs, and registration card and walk out to see Ms Peachy Top just arriving at the “triage” counter where they figure out what you need and assign you to a queue. In and out in ten minutes. Go Me!
**gotti **- he said he got the recipe from Facebook. I had sesame oil, but he didn’t know that. And he forgot the soy sauce. And he used garlic powder (not nearly enough) instead of minced garlic. And the beef was *soooooooooooo *fatty - I don’t think he even thinks about it because he’ll eat the fat. I wound up throwing away half of the meat that I served myself because of fat and gristle.
I’m truly thankful and impressed that he tried, but it wasn’t a very good meal. Plus the recipe called for 1 cup of beef broth and 1/4 cup of brown sugar - it was way too sweet! And it’s not very good on noodles. In need to buy rice.
I hate to discourage him. But he needs to understand that when you don’t know what you’re doing, you need to follow recipes exactly.
I’ll crash early tonight, since I woke around 3 and I’m exhausted!!! It’s gonna be a melatonin night.
