Who’s been vaccinated?

Me too, about an hour and a half ago  . I expect to try an outdoors patio breakfast and visits with the vaccinated parents in two weeks after I’m all antibodied up. With the breakfast hopefully early before there are many other people around. I’m definitely gonna ease back into the restaurant thing with baby steps.

Now as of right now I’m feeling odd. Not crappy, exactly. But more like my body is on the fence on whether it wants to blow this off as nothing or go full crappy. I’m guessing full crappy or at least crappier is in my near future. Oh well, I got off with just a mildly sore arm on the first one, so I guess I’m due.

Just got Pfizer Shot #2. It was a really quick process - I went to Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. There was absolutely no line, but it took a while to walk all around the place to get to registration locations (they divide folks into 4 different areas in the stadium) and shot areas.

You’re correct, Pfizer is supposed to be three weeks apart.

Here in New York City, the Duane Reade/Walgreens chain is one of the places you can get the vaccine.

Turns out they were scheduling the shots four weeks apart, just because it was easier for them (I guess since the recommended gap for the Moderna vaccine is four weeks, and it’s easier just to do them all that way, I guess).

That’s about what I expect from them. They’re all over the place in NY, and insurance companies like them because their drug prices are competitive. But they treat customers like shit. You want to talk to a pharmacist about your prescription? If you’re lucky, a “pharmacy technician” will answer your questions. More likely you’ll be able to talk to a cashier.

So I got my second shot today. Four weeks after the first. I showed up on time for my shot. I got to wait for some time in a crowded lower level (the pharmacy is in the basement), with a large number of people getting prescriptions or waiting for shots. Social distancing was physically impossible. And, of course, there were a few (only a couple) people who can’t be bothered with masks. They get away with it because New Yorkers are perfectly socialized to mind their own business and keep their mouths shut. So they do. Except for me. I went off on one guy. It was fun.

Eh, I wouldn’t be too incensed over them doing something like that that made things simpler when they are throwing together a scheduling system to respond to the need to vaccinate hundreds of millions of people as quickly as possible.

I was concerned about a two-week gap, because I’d heard it needed to be not less than 3 weeks. I think it might not be uncommon to have to schedule out a little further than 3 weeks, depending on the system. Good for Walgreens for fixing it now, after getting it up and running.

Wait, what? The article you cited says, “… making people wait an extra week beyond the recommended 14 days.”

If it’s supposed to be 3 weeks – and I agree that it is – wouldn’t that be the recommended 21 days?

I was told I would be notified in 2 weeks to schedule my second Pfizer. Turned out to be 17 days after Dose 1, and I was not permitted to schedule Dose 2 until exactly 3 weeks after the first. I go for Dose 2 on Sunday.

That’s what I thought, too. Apparently the Daily News got something wrong.

But the first paragraph of the story, if you open the link, says:

Walgreens tried to call its own shots when it came to second doses of the Pfizer’s COVID vaccine, making people wait an extra week beyond the recommended 21 days.

No wonder there’s confusion.

That seems to be an error. The body of the article says they were making people who got Pfizer wait 28 days so the scheduling software didn’t have to distinguish between Pfizer and Moderna. Now they’re fixing it.

Thanks. I didn’t read the body of the article, but kind of figured that was the gist. I just thought the headline was a most unfortunate error, considering the point they were hoping to make.

When I got my first Pfizer dose, the fellow told me to expect to be contacted “in 2 weeks.” I was confused, because I’d always heard 3 weeks for Pfizer, too.

As it turned out, he didn’t correctly state what I should expect, as I noted above. That’s ok. I’m just glad I’ll be finished with this on Sunday. At least until they develop the variants booster.

The wife got her second Pfizer dose on Thursday afternoon. Felt a little achy the rest of the day, but that was it.

I got my second Moderna two days ago! Sore arm for about 36 hours, mild fatigue and muscle/joint soreness for about 24 hours. I’m feeling good now, though. Not sure how this will change my routine when I hit my two weeks, but I did make an appointment for my first haircut in over a year, at the end of April. Can’t wait.

Is there any reason that 4 weeks will be less effective, or is it just that it’s a longer wait than necessary?

I did Walgreens, and they scheduled 4 weeks apart, which was fine with me, as I would probably have had to anyway, as last Monday was no good for me.

The published tests were done at 3 weeks, but most doctors think that waiting longer will work at least as well, except for being a little less protected for that additional time in between.

I just got back from Shot #2, 3 weeks to the day and nearly the hour. Wish I had seen your post before I left – I would have asked them!

Everything I’ve read is that for Pfizer, Shot #2 should be administered no earlier than 3 weeks but is fine up to 6 weeks past Shot #1. If today hadn’t worked out for me, I’d have been comfortable to schedule 4-5 weeks out, as you did.

It’s such a good feeling to have this done!

Today I had shot #2 of AZ, ten minutes shy of exactly eleven weeks after the first.

Tell you what, eleven weeks is a long time.

I am nearly a week after Pfizer #2 which I got three weeks exactly after the first dose. My reaction to the second one wasn’t as bad as the first. It’s so nice to be on the other side of the hump.

Got my second Pfizer dose last night, 4 weeks after the first dose. In 2 weeks I get to … probably just keep doing what I’ve been doing, because there are a lot of idiots out there. But I may go visit my mom for my birthday. I haven’t seen her since October of 2019. There were plans for a visit for Mother’s Day last year, but COVID precluded.

Just back from getting my first shot (Pfizer)! Very well organized mass clinic in a huge sports center. I was in and out in less than half an hour, including the 15-minute post-shot wait.

Here’s some vague wishy-washy information suggesting that abstaining from alcohol for a while post-vaccination may be a good idea, but there’s nothing really definitive. I got the standard spiel about potential side effects, but nothing about alcohol.

Got shot #1 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara last Wednesday (4/21). Next shot scheduled May 13. It was Pfizer and no immediate side effects although later that day my arm got a little bit sore.
