Who Saw "Greg the Bunny"?

Oooh…I rearranged two of Max Torque’s quote, and forgot to check, and the last word of the last quote-“thing”-connected itself to the first quote. Eesh. Sorry 'bout that, blah.

This is one of these “Too good” shows, shows that are way too good for television to last more than a few episodes. Examples include “Police Squad!” and “Profit”.

While I’ve only seen a grand total of 15min of GtB, I must give kudos to capacitor for his wonderful taste in TV. Those are 2 of my most favorite TV shows ever, and I curse the soulless network execs that cancelled them.

Caught the evil dog episode on Wednesday. I swear it sounded like they gave the dog a human voice-over!

It was OK, IMO. Nothing uproariously hilarious, but a couple giggly bits: “We’re dead, Gil! Eep!” “I have to take a cold shower before I get on an escalator, blah!”

Dunno if I’d watch it again, but I don’t watch Fox that much anyway. The Tzeroling monopolizes the TV in the evenings - Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon - and Samurai Jack is more interesting.

Sunday’s kids-show-get-a-makeover episode didn’t really impress me, but I laughed throughout the evil-dog episode. I couldn’t believe they would actually call a character Tardy, but I loved that Eugene Levy’s character picked up his “I am singing the quiet song” as he moved through the woods.

“Senor Phone!”

I’ll definitely watch the next episode.

Okay, I admit I laughed at Tardy Turtle. “Chocolate ice cream goes in the freezer!”

Did anyone notice that Greg’s eyes have changed? In the first show they were simple black buttons, but now they look more like real eyes. Maybe he bought a new pair.

They haven’t really established what the physical reality of the puppets is in the universe of Greg the Bunny. Do they have sex and produce children, or are they manufactured by humans and somehow endowed with life? Why does Greg pee and fart, but not bleed when a dog rips his back open?

Of course, the whole thing is blatantly derivative of both Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Meet the Feebles. I wouldn’t mind that if it were just funnier.

more like the Muppets. Or “Let My Puppets Come”, the puppet porno movie.

whatever its faults, I’ll watch it for Sarah Silverman. We don’t see enough of her anywhere else.

The first episode I saw was the MTV-alization show…I wasn’t impressed. However, after seeing the Paintball/Evil Dog episode and the rerun of the first episode, I’m giving it another chance.

I just about died watching the Paintball/Evil Dog episode. For some reason, the big puppet-woman’s question of, “Have you ever considered inviting Jesus Christ to be your personal Lord and Savior,” has kept me chuckling like an idiot for days now. Oh, and the same goes for Tardy’s observation as he ate the paintballs that “the green ones make me horny.”

In talking with some of my friends, I think we all agree that this show might be funny, but it’s going to be difficult to sustain the momentum. I’m not ready to make a bet as to when it will get canned, but I’m pretty confident that it won’t be long in coming…

I saw a rerun of what was apparently the first episode. My thoughts:

They really spread the casting net far and wide to land Seth Green as…a young slacker!

I’m glad they made Greg a likeable character. It would have been very cliched to make him a hard-drinking cigar smoking bastard like Baby what’s-his-name in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The Rochester Rabbit character he replaces seems to fill that role here.

I am now in love with Sarah Silverman. Or maybe it’s just lust.

I generally liked the show, but for me it’s just a watered-down, emasculated version of TV Funhouse, Comedy Central’s hilarious, truely adult (and I think not renewed) puppet show.

Well, I’m back after watching some more of Greg the Bunny.

I think Tardy is my new favorite character. “You’re not a’sposed to touch me where my bathing suit is.”

I really liked the episode where Greg gets in tune with his “Puppish” self. That was just adorable. And I finally saw the dog mauling episode, that was a good one. The first two episodes where a little weak, but I have high hopes for the show.

I love this show myself, it is right up my alley: goofy premise, puppets, characters that say things that make me laugh so hard i miss the next joke, Eugene Levy (Armed and Dangerous, baby!), Sarah Silverman (From SNL and Voyager!), Seth Greene, The chick from Men Behaving Badly, and the Warden from Shawshank (and a TNG episode). Hopefully, it is not weird enough to make fox cancel it out of fear (Fox Executive: that show has a gimmick, no one will watch! and make 24 different next year!)

This is a hilarious show.

Tardy (carrying bicycles on a forklift): Now I’m strong!

Greg: Wow! I’ve seen everything you’ve done-Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Warren: Yeah. If it was lame and about Jesus, I’ve been in it.

Tardy: Crayons taste like purple!

(If the theme song is right, how in the world did Tardy “graduate from Harvard at the head of [his] class?”)

Well, it’s recently come to light that 50% of the grades given at Harvard are As or A-minuses, so I can believe it.
