Who Thinks Dark Roots Looks Good on a Blonde?

Man, my wife just dyed her hair blonde again and it looks good but I actually think it looks a little better with some darker roots. I know this is like a big taboo with some girls(see I didn’t use chick even though I think it is a cool term and not degrading) even my wife to have blonde hair with darker roots but why?

When you think about it most blondes are dyed blondes(I don’t have a cite for that but I think I am correct) so eventually the darker roots are going to come out when the hair grows. And most people can’t afford to die their hair every couple of weeks so the end result is there is lots of blondes walking around with darker roots. So I think it has become more acceptable to have blonde hair with darker roots. It’s almost like its a new color or something.

So now I am to the point of liking blonde hair better with darker roots than I am just pure blonde hair except it does look good on some girls. Am I whacked out(I can’t believe I just left myself that wide open for an easy flame but oh well) or do any of ya’ll like darker roots too?

The reason most women don’t like blonde hair with dark roots is because it makes it obvious you dye your hair.

Generally the desired outcome of dying your hair is to make it look natural. Light blonde hair with dark brown roots does not look natural.

I think I figured it out.

Wildest, your mom played honky-tonk songs for you while you were in the womb, didn’t she?

I too like the look of darker roots on a dyed blonde. I suppose it depends on each woman individually though. I especially like dark roots on a dyed blonde who isn’t wearing make up… mmmm hmmmm

Yea, but it looks good doesn’t it? You see that is the perception I am talking about that needs to be changed. And besides really how many natural blondes are there in the US?

LOL She better not have.

I like the contrast between roots and hair, but then again, I’m all for unnatural hair colors in general.

I’ve seen girls around here that have green or purple or streaked black and red hair, and I think it’s really hot.

Hair has some natural variation in color from one piece to the next. I have some hair that is almost blonde, some that is quite burgundy, and some that is an intermediate auburn. All mixed in, it looks nice, or at least natural. When I’ve colored my hair in the past, it all comes out the exact same shade, which makes it look artificial. The dark roots you describe help to make blonde hair look more natural, because it eases the monochromatic look (monochromaticity?) you get with dyed hair.

I have an acquaintance whose hair grows out of her head dark brown, but after about an inch, turns very blond from exposure to the sun. It has always been like that - her ‘roots’ never get longer or shorter than that, because it grows that way naturally. On her, I’d say it looks fine. I’ve never been real partial to blonde hair, especially artificially blonde hair, so in my opinion, on most people shouldn’t have roots. Then again, in my opinion, most people shouldn’t have dyed-blonde hair. So there you go.

That depends on what you consider “looks good” to mean.

There you go Bill. You’ve finally found the true calling in your life. A battle worthy of your talents. Onward dye job soldier!

…and besides, really, who cares and why does it matter?

You know Bill, you spend entirely too much time thinking about women. You should get a hobby.

I don’t mind dark roots on blondes, as long as they don’t just look like a bad dye job. Like TheNerd, I dig unconventional hair colors. I especially like women with two-toned hair–the more prominent, the better!

Of course, as an unfortunate consequence, that means I find Kitty Bartholemew kinda hot.

You’re right but I just really dig’em especially on all this testosterone.

I mean the ole song is right “if it weren’t for little girls what would little boys do?”

I like dark roots on a blonde. I like hair with different shades and tones to it, but all one color is fine, too.

When it comes right down to it, I couldn’t care less what color a woman’s hair is. It’s what’s inside of her head that really attracts me.

Hey does this line really work?

My fiancee’s hair seems to be all one color (black) from one strand to the next, and from the root to the end (I’m 16 inches taller than she, so I get a good view when we hug). I shudder to think what she would look like with dyed blonde hair.

Yes :stuck_out_tongue:

There ya go, Bill. A testimonial from my very favorite Doper (among other things), Mauvaise.

Actually, what I said isn’t a line, but a state of mind. Makes a big difference.

Bill, if your wife a “suicide blonde” (“dyed by her own hand”)? It is VERY difficult to dye your own hair, especially if you’re dramatically changing your color—it’s well worth the money to have it done by someone who knows what they’re doing and can create natural-looking variations and highlights.

My hair grows quickly, so when I colored it I had roots in two weeks. Light hair with a harsh stripe of a half-inch of black roots (or colored hair with a half-inch of gray roots) does NOT look “cute.” It looks shabby and trashy and lazy. Which is one of many reasons I no longer color my hair . . .

Now, ladies, shall we gang up on Bill and tell him a few things we don’t like to see on men?

Eve, I think you hit it on the head with “shabby and trashy and lazy” and I would emphasize trashy.

But I think that might be what’s turning BIll on!

Eve,

I disagree. It(dark roots) doesn’t look trashy it looks sexy. See women have all these weird perceptions that men do not have. For instance women think women shouldn’t have long hair middle age on. I did a thread on this very thing and most of the guys like long hair on older women. And so far on this thread most of the guys like dark roots.

So now you have to decide who you want to please the opposite sex or your gender. I for one would rather please the opposite sex. So if you got any hints for me on what looks good on a man, lay it on me. I’m all ears.
