I thought it would be fun if we fans could continue Mr. Keisser’s “predictions”. Just take your favorite team or favorite rivalry team and fantasize about what could be in 2002.
So let me add mine.
On August 27, the Colorado Rockies at home go into extra innings with the score at 0-0 and no hits by either team. Pitcher Mike Hampton was quoted after the game “even Barry Bonds wasn’t able to get anything past the warning track”.
During the last 7 home games at the end of August, Angels and Dodger fans all stayed past the 7th inning. Players on both teams were amazed by this phenomenom. Darin Erstad was quoted as saying “It was eerie not seeing a dash for the exit after the seventh inning stretch. I have never seen anything like it, it threw off our game.”
Bud Selig resigns saying that he was totally wrong about contraction, it should never have even been considered. Baseball fans across the US consider making a plaque in his honor at each ball park.
Pete Rose is finally inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. At the ceremony he is asked about the gambling and his reply is “I did it but lost money on ******* basebase”.
Angel fans run onto the field in a mob during the 8th inning doing the YMCA. The players retreat into the dugout to keep from getting hit by flailing arms. It takes a live appearance by the Village People to finally break up the crowd.
