The Kushner family has certainly made a ton of money destroying the Jersey Shore. Chuck, Josh and Jared are worth over $5 billion together probably more. None of them seemed to be in a hurry to help Trump financially.
Well, with no VP if he kicked it his successor would be Speaker of the House who could well be a Democrat. Of course, that would require him to be playing two-dimensional chess.
The story is a surprising because Trump is supposedly running a low-press-leakage campaign this time.
First thought is — gaffe. Donald said it in private, but in politics, there is no private.
Trump wants to sell that Kennedy is a Democrat, so Bobby will peel votes away from Biden. The last thing DJT wants is to make voters see Kennedy as Trump-adjacent.
Then there’s the conspiracy theory analytic approach. Maybe, deflecting attention away from Biden is so supremely important that Trump authorized the leaks.
I’m thinking the primary qualification for Trump’s VP slot will be assurances that said person will issue a complete blanket pardon for Trump a la Ford/Nixon. The person will have to either be completely trustworthy, (who?) or Trump must have significant leverage (read blackmail) over the person.
The second qualification will be not pulling a Pence when the time for continuation arrives in 2028. He won’t want people around him who are loyal to the constitution like he had last time.
He refers to himself that way, and Time used it repeatedly when he was arrested in 1983:
But it’s probably in the same category as Mrs. Clinton – fine with Hillary Clinton, but annoys the heck out of lots of others. So I’ll try to remember, but no promises
I firmly believe that Donnie is a Trump supremacist first. Don’t misunderstand me, I know he’s very bigoted, but he’ll pick anyone that will let him win. And happily dump them and run them down verbally every chance he gets.
Marjorie Greene just made her case for running mate, saying recently that if she had been veep during Don’s first term, that he would still be president.
Nicely played imho, because if he wins in November the next four years will be all about getting another four after that.
Did she mean she’d make Trump so popular that he’d have gotten more votes in 2020, or that she’d have “done what Mike Pence should have” in terms of…making Trump president by stroke of a pen?
I’d like to see her try. Her face expression when she realizes that the vice president cannot, in fact, keep a sitting president in office by certifying Biden’s votes as Trump’s, would be interesting.
