WHOOOOA BUNDY!! The 'Married with Children Reunion' Thread

I never realized till now how much the Osbournes owe to the Bundys. And how damn similar they are. Talk about life imitating art. The ONLY difference is the Osbournes get to cuss a lot more.

I’m so glad that I’m not alone! I loved that show, and miss it terribly. No one took better pot-shots at our culture than the Bundy’s.

When the show went off the air, I was terribly worried about all the silicone-enhanced bimbos in mini-dresses that would be put out of work.

I also noticed that “tits” is now officially OK on network TV. First on ER, now this. Now they just have to start showing them!

OK, so what was your favorite episode?

I have two favorites:

First, the one in which Al starts a garden, goes to war against a rabbit that is eating his crop, and ends up leaving a crater where the house used to be.

Second, the one in which Al and Jefferson try to put together a work bench. The slap-stick in that episode was unbeatable! (a similar great one is when they tried to figure out what a light switch is attached to - everyone gets electrocuted and Bob Rooney ends up sealed in the wall).

Peggy: “You can just hear the Loony Tunes theme song!”

Shouldn’t a show be off the air at LEAST a decade before a reunion show is allowed?!

I didn’t watch this, but I loved the show itself.

Best episode, bar NONE, was the episode where Al’s high school football trophy is stolen by a disgruntled Bubba Smith. The end of that episode is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Runner ups include the episode where Al lies and gets in the Senior Olympics, the episode where Al creates the shoes of good, and most certainly the “Nudie Bar” episode.

My favorite episode is when Peg and Al go to their high school reunion. It’s the one where Peg wants to be named reunion queen. “Wanker, Wanker, don’t bother to thank 'er”. Bud and Kelly show up dressed like hippies. I still crack up thinking about Bud and Kelly looking at the ballot box lock and saying something like “it’s a model [blah blah blah] lock! Ha ha, they would have been better off locking the box with bubble gum and a paper clip” (something like that) It’s also where Peg finally lets Al kick the other guys ass because she’s miserable anyway, and “someone should have some fun”. Finally the shot of seeing Bud and Kelly, their faces covered in food from the buffet that they just pigged out on, and bud’s saying “the colors, the colors” like he’s on an acid trip. That whole episode is funny from beginning to end.

Oh yeah, my original post was going to be that tvguide.com indicated that the cast members were going to discuss why Married With Childred was cancelled so suddenly, and with out an offical “final episode”. They never talked about it.

What a great show.

My favorite episode was the Christmas ep with Sam Kinison. And the Valentine’s ep when Al tells Peg he loves her.

If you had the captions on (like I did), you would have seen that when Applegate said “tits”, the place in the caption said “(bleep)”. Amusing, indeed.

Psycho Dad, Psycho Dad, Psycho Daaaaaaaad!

By far. Longer, more in depth interviews with the cast and creators, segments on the woman who wanted the show off the air, NO MAAM, why the show was cancelled, everybody saying how they wanted the show to end if they could do a final episode (the actor who plays Jefferson wanted all the other characters to end up dead) etc.

Among other things, the E! special revealed why Peggy and Marcy's pregnancies turned out to be a dream. When Katey Segal found out she was pregnant, it was written into the show. It was decided to make Marcy pregnant as well. However, Katey had a miscarriage. The writers decided it would be cruel to keep Peggy pregnant. They decided the it-was-all-a-dream approach was the quickest and easiest way to deal with things.

BTW-I don’t know if it’s still published but Now comics did a series. Issues included-the Bundy’s get rich when Peggy invents the Bundy Bon-Bon Barometer, a device for telling you what’s inside a chocolate without squeezing it, the Bundy’s become the Fantastic Four, a TV exec stays with the Bundys in order to make a documentary on them.

Katey Sagal? you can find her in Malcolm in the Middle these days, I didn’t recognize her for a long time.

Oh, I had forgotten about that one! Truly one of their greatest episodes.

Clever of her to change her name and appearance.

I liked it!

More on Marcy, Jefferson, and Steve would have been nice.

I think handy may have meant 8 Simple Rules…
Isn’t she on that?

  • Malcolm in the Middle? * Naw. However, you will find her on * 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter, * and she’s provided the voice for Turanga Leela on Matt Groening’s devastatingly funny science fiction parody, * Futurama. *

My two favorite episodes…

  1. Where Santa dies in their backyard because his parachute failed to open while skydiving.

  2. The episode where the ashes from an urn (Marcie’s aunt?) get put into Al’s BBQ on memorial day.

What a twisted, wonderful show.

I loved Steve’s grin when he bit into the Toodie-burger! And yes, that first Christmas episode was the best ever. So twisted.

I wish there’d been less clips and more interviews. We were promised individual interviews but I didn’t see them.

It was okay. Too little substance though. It was nothing more than a ‘best of’ clip show with a few minutes of actor comments. I too was amazed to see them let Christina Applegate say ‘tits’ on the air.

And I also think she’s had some kind of plastic surgery. First time I saw her on ‘Jesse’ something about her eyes didn’t look right. She seems to look better now though.

I liked the one where Kelly finally said “NO” to a guy. (Corey Feldman-who WOULDN’T say NO?)

Or the one where Kelly gets her own show. It’s so funny. And then they change it so they have to be all squeaky clean.
