Oh yeah. “I can’t believe they ruined–and then cancelled–my show!”
As a Steve fan, I did like it when Garrison mentioned that his favorite parts were when Steve was stuck on the couch with Al listening to his terrible “philosophies of life”. O’Neill tried it with Ted, too, but Jefferson would just grin and not take it onboard. I never liked Jefferson–Al couldn’t corrupt him, he was already much more morally ambiguous than Al could be.
“All that wisdom, and you sell shoes.” “Oh, good, at the feet of the Master again!”
I was disappointed. I loved the show from the very first episode, and was hoping this “reunion” would be an actual episode, perhaps the missing “final” episode, with a plot and script and all. Was quite bummed to find out it was just a clip-and-interview show. Who cares? But maybe that’s just me being a grumble bunny…Timmy
My favorite episode was Kelly learning to drive. Marcie is telling her about it symbolizing the step toward becoming an independent young woman, etc., and Kelly says, “Yeah, I’m really tired of this put out or get out crap.”
The one where they went camping was a landmark show, cause it was the first time prime time TV had ever acknowledged (omigod) that women have periods. The network insisted it air one hour later at 10:30. So it wouldn’t corrupt anyone watching earlier I guess.
I enjoyed the dynamic between Marcy and Al. They were great together. And I liked Jefferson. He was so slick and smooth.
One of my favorites was when the guy complained to Al that Peg was going out dancing with his husband. Yes, husband. One of Dan Castenella’s great pre-Simpsons appearances.
Yes, there’s an episode of Futurama where Leela is going to be married, and the whole thing after the first commerical break turns into a Married With Children parody/tribute/reference thing, with Alcazar insisting on being called Al and his making her dress just like Peg Bundy.
Katey’s nearly 47, and yeah she looks great. They all do except for Amanda who’s aging a little more, but then again she’s not really an actress anymore so she doesn’t have to keep herself in camera-ready shape.
I saw Garrison do a play reading at the Waverly Playhouse last week; he’s cute and did a great job. He’s played almost every major regional theater in the country (last year he did Malvolio at the Long Wharf and the Melissa Manchester musical at North Shore Music Theater), and been on Broadway 3 or 4 times. The one I wonder about is David Faustino; he’s sort of distinctive looking and I don’t know how things will go for him. I don’t see him in much.
I don’t watch Eight Simple Rules but Dragnet’s OK. Ed’s better than his material.
