Who's going to Montreal Pride?

Montreal Pride in all of its fabulousness is taking place quite soon. The big march is on Sunday the 4th, but there are events all week beforehand. For more info see http://www.diverscite.org/

I’ll be there with my Big Dartmouth Lesbian Posse ™. (This includes cute math major, who I’m hoping will feel exceptionally sapphic after the festivities.)

At any rate, I’m going to be in town from Saturday afternoon until Sunday night, and I know that some of the Big Gay Dopers are going to be there.

Shall we get together? Who wants to wave a flag and be fabulous?

Tpp far away. Costs too much. Otherwise I would like to be there and meet you all. Then again, there’s the Vancouver Pride Parade that always takes place in August during the summer. Two years ago, our friends jokingly blamed someone’s rollerblading accident on looking at the passing gay pride parade… the story went that she apparently got so discombobulated that she lost her blance and fell.

I’ve never been to one befoire, so I’m not sure what I should expect anyways. Besides, since I’m straight, is there a possibility that I’d get booted out of it?

Er, I meant “Too far away” and “lost her balance” in my last post. (no, I am not deliberately including spelling errors so that my apology and clarification posts can pad my post count… not on a night where I’m hoping to reach 1800 before the boards go down ;)) I think I just type too fast sometimes, is all.

I’ll be going… either with my “RL” friends or with the Doper contingent.

They should let us have our own SDMB float. :stuck_out_tongue:

“Fighting ignorance to a disco beat”

Yeah, I can see that.

Matt? You coming?

Of course he’s cumming - er, coming. :stuck_out_tongue: Aren’t you staying with him anyway?

I’m torn. I can go with my RL friends, which I’ve always done in the past, or go with you guys.

It’s fun and kind of symbolic to go with my RL friends, because we’re a microcosm of diversity (DiversCité). We’re all different, but we’re all friends. Three will be in drag, there’s a butch lesbian, an earthy lesbian, depgrl, who’s straight but just as queer as the rest of us, me (whatever category I fall under… it changes from year to year  ), and whoever else. Like I said, all different, but all a circle of friends: true diversity.

In any case, even if I end up going with them, we should have a mini-Dope.

Actually, come to think of it, you could join us, but be warned: my friends insist on joining the parade itself (not just watching) once they find a float whose music is particularly good.

We usually have breakfast at Eggspectations on Laurier beforehand.

I’m actually going up with Dartmouth’s Big Lesbian Posse, (okay, there’s 20 of us and it’s a mixed group) and we’re all in a hotel.

I don’t know about meeting up for the parade itself… perhaps dinner the night before?
