I was thinking again today about how @Senegoid stopped posting here after being a prolific poster. He was very helpful in showing fellow posters how to navigate the Discourse changeover.
@IvoryTowerDenizen has been gone for a year. I miss her posts.
@GreenWyvern suddenly stopped posting in the spring of 2022, after being very active in the Ukraine war thread.
He was really helpful when we first went live on Discourse. He was very familiar with it.
She last posted July 4th. School’s back in session, so she’s probably busy with that.
Saw another blast from the past in @Argent_Towers. Just left one summer day in 2012 and has never been seen again.
I’ve been wondering about @Riemann - I always noted their weird but cool quasar image (although the first time I saw it thought it was a distorted HAL9000 Image), and they were extremely active in many of the fora I visted.
Nothing since February of this year (2024)… Perhaps one of you fine folks knows more?

From the early days of the board, an Aussie poster TheLoadedDog (name taken from a short story by Henry Lawson) was a fairly prolific poster with an abundance of wit and intelligence. I didn’t mention it here on the SDMB at the time, app 4 years ago, but he passed away after a long battle with a major physical injury combined with the associated severe depression. that often accompanies such disability.
Funny, smart bloke, I miss his presence here very much.
