I’m not privy to my neighbor’s specific diagnosis, so I used dementia as a generic description of her behavior. Thankfully I have no first hand experience with dementia/Alzheimers/etc.
We actually met Quasi and Mrs. Quasi, many years back, when they were in town for some kind of conference. He definitely had the occasional memory lapse.
The blog post from a few weeks back suggests things must not have progressed as badly as initially feared.
I miss @filbert
She had the most information on bees and bee adjunct creatures as she kept a hive …i think she had to go to school/work in upScotland and had to give up the hive
I mentioned @Beware_of_Doug in another thread, MIA almost 6 years now.
That’s why I suspect it’s not Alzheimer’s. Plenty of other conditions that could have similar symptoms with not necessarily as bad outcomes. It’s also much easier to diagnose now. There is a new blood test that also looks very promising.

I miss @filbert
Last seen Aug 1, last post 13 July. So she’s around but quiet. Yeah, I miss her contributions as well. Hi @Filbert.!

My BFF’s mother, who has since died from something else, was tentatively diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when she experienced a sudden decline in her mental acuity (I remember that she had to take early retirement and give up her driver’s license) but then she improved - enough to get her license back - and we all know that NEVER happens with Alzheimer’s. We all think she had a minor stroke that somehow got missed in a screening.
I also remember that they tried her on both Concerta and Adderall, although IDR which order. Yes, they made her more alert, but they also killed her appetite to a point where her doctors were worried about malnutrition.

I remember that @Quasimodem posted something about a diagnosis of depression which gave some of the signs of Alzheimers. I have tried to find it, but have not been able to. I think it was a year after his initial diagnosis, and on his blog.
I was browsing an old thread and realized I hadn’t seen @Fluffy_PickleSniffer in a while. Looks like they were last here a year ago - anyone heard from them?
This is the thread that caused me to join. I had one of my best laughs from that thread.
I’ve gone away for many years and am now just coming back. The reason I left, actually, is because no one on this board made me laugh anymore.
I rarely post, and if I do, it’s a thread-killer.
Well, I’m not going to let it kill this thread! I’ve been reading these, and it made me think, I’ve just come back recently, too. It was nice to see so many names I recognized. It was good to see so many were still here.

Just think of it as you posted the post that everyone realized no one could top.
Love that!
Welcome back and we invite all potential thread killers to this Thread

Dang it, I was hoping my post would kill the thread!
Stranger things have happened.
I see what you did there .

Stranger things have happened.
Four seasons worth so far.

Another thread reminded me of @even_sven. I wonder how she’s doing.
