Taped the 7-hour Powerpuff Girls Marathon yesterday, and watched bits and pieces of it with my kids today.
I was pleased to see that we got the episode where Big Billy becomes the Powerpuffs’ slave. And the one where Joe Wednesday makes the Gangrene Gang attend Pokey Oaks Kindergarten. Unfortunately, we did NOT get “Telephonies,” or the one where Buttercup develops a chest-heaving crush on Ace.
In any case, I found that I was enjoying the Gangrene Gang episodes more than the Mojo Jojos, the Fuzzy Lumpkinses, the Seducas, and even the HIMs. Possibly because of the array of personalities throughout the five members?
Who knows. Anyway, I think the best member is Little Arturo. He’s the one I’d like to have at my back if Bubbles decided to crush my skull with a dodgeball.
I am willing to debate any and all Snake buffs, Grubber fans, Big Billy boosters, Ace rooters, etc.
I caught a little bit of this marathon, too (OK, I caught four hours of it). Anyone see the episode where Mojo Jojo attended the slumber party in drag as “Mojeesha?”
I still vote for HIM as the creepiest villain.
. . . Anyone else think The Professor is kinda hot?
Are you people making all of this up? Or does all the gibberish in Ukulele Ike’s original post actually refer to a bonafide set of fictional characters? If I find out someone’s been pulling my leg, there’ll be hell to pay.
Oh, man, I WISH we were good enough to make this sort of stuff up. But Truth is stranger than Fiction, Arnold, my friend.
Go Thou, and Get Thyself Puffed.
Eve: The slumber party episode is one of the best, especially from the neofeminist perspective: Mojo Jojo, a guy who can lift I-bars, is soundly defeated by the little girls of Townsville!
The weird thing about this one is that Mojo succeeds in draining off the Girls’ super-powers, is pounded to a pulp by their kindergarten peers, and then the episode ends. How do they get their powers back?
The Gangrene Gang are pretty cool, the Amoeba Boys are sweetly pathetic, and HIM is freaky but I like Mojo Jojo the best. My favorite episode so far is “Los Dos Mojos” where Bubbles thinks she is Mojo Jojo.

—I noticed that too, Ike. One of those leaving-you-hanging endings. I guess the Little Girls of Townsville forced Mojo Jojo to give the P-P Girls their powers back by threatening him with pillows?
HIM is indeed freaky. Reminds me a lot of someone I knew in Baltimore . . . Remember, I used to hang out with the John Waters crowd.
http://www.ppgworld.com had Craig McCracken’s original school short “Whoopass Girls”, which introduced the three nameless superheroines by letting them beat up what became the Gangrene Gang and a surprisingly dangerous gang of Amoeba Boys. It also had the two “What a Cartoon!” shorts, “Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins” and “Crime 101”. Haven’t been there in a while, though. Also lost the address for the Pokey Oaks Fanfic Library, but they had a Yahoo club, so I should be able to dredge it back up eventually. Another good site is http://www.powerpuff.com.
A more pertinent IMHO question might be, which of the girls is the best? I wouldn’t dare answer it, though. Much more devisive than which Gangrener is best.
Thank you for the links, chrisbar and don Jaime. I don’t have the cartoon network so was unaware of this new cultural phenomenon. From the pictures I’ve seen, the powerpuff girls scare me with their huge heads and eyes. I don’t think I’m ready to enter their universe.
HIM makes me laugh everytime he comes on for some odd reason.
And, Bubbles is the best powerpuff!! Ever seen the epidoe where she goes into their virtual reality chamber and beats the monsters at level 14 or something. now that was the best. And, as I found out tonite while watching the show, that Buttercup relies on her blankie to fight well…
Blossom is commander and the leader for a reason. She’s done comunity service for stealing and almost got five old men killed by lying to them, and still she leads the group. I can only assume that she must be better than her sisters despite these massive character flaws. I wonder what B-cup and Bubbles are hiding…
Buttercup is my favorite, but Bubbles is right cute too. My favorite Bubbles episode (I don’t remember the title) was the one where the evil clown steals all the colors from Townsville and Bubbles tries to save the day with her crayons.
One of my friends says I’m just like Bubbles, in that im cute and stuff, even though I resemble Buttercup. I also have a Bubbles lanyard that holds my car keys:)
