Who's the most caffeinated person on the SDMB?

I’ve never liked coffee. Usually I go through 4-6 cups of tea and a Turbo Truffle in the course of a day. I always know when there’s too much caffeine in my system; if I become aware of my heartbeat, it’s time to stop.

I’ve cut back a fair bit now, but I used to be hyper-caffinated all through college. The carafe in the dorm dining hall was always full, so every time I passed through I’d fill my 20oz. travel mug and take it with me wherever I’d go. Measured in ‘normal’ cups, I was doing at least 15 a day regularly.

Now that it’s gotten cold, I find I’m going through two pots (“12 cups”) a day. I don’t drink all of that, though. Mr. Legend has his two or three cups out of those two pots, too.

I hear it helps reduce the incidence of colon cancer. And if it does anything negative, I don’t want to hear it.

I used to consider myself overly caffeinated until I read this thread. I bow to the masters.

A sludge cup in the morning (regular coffee with shots of espresso dumped in). Usually a 4 shot sludge. Sometimes only 2. 2-16 oz Diet Rock Stars before heading out into the field. 32 oz Diet coke in the afternoon. Or maybe more diet rock stars.

That’s for regular weekdays. Weekends, double the diet cokes and rock stars…

do I win??? do I win???

I normally wake up and drink a pot of coffee before I hop into the shower and on days when I read the morning paper I’ll drink another pot of coffee before going to the espresso joint on the corner and order a 6 shot huge mocha with extra whip and caramel to drink while driving to work which takes about 30 minutes and by the time I arrive I’ve finished that coffee so I head up to the bakery to order another 6 shot mocha with 10 cubes of sugar which I order luke warm so I can slam it before I reach my desk because I spilled a mocha on my keyboard once and it got sticky and nasty and I thought about throwing it away but found you can clean the sticky out of a keyboard with windex which works pretty well but don’t spill another mocha on your keyboard or that will most surely do it in and you won’t be able to fix it then because that’s just far too much mocha for any keyboard to handle but that’s beside the point because I don’t drink mocha coffee at my desk anymore because I’ve found tea is much more pleasant to drink while working because there isn’t as much a risk on damaging your keyboard if you spill a bit of flavoured water into your keyboard so I drink about 20-30 cups of tea before I take a lunch break which is when I walk up and get two more 6 shot mochas to drink but not at the same time because I order the first one and walk around for about 30 minutes before I return to the shop and order the second which I don’t drink right away but I carry back to the office to drink at the office because that’s the time I am normally on conference calls and not sitting at my desk but I wish I could get that coffee in a larger cup because conference calls are boring and I normally slam through that coffee quickly because it’s not like I’m really paying attention during the calls because most of the stuff doesn’t apply to me anyway but everyone wants me there just in case they decide to shift the conversation over to IT related things but it normally doesn’t so I’ll often sneak out and make a big urn of drip coffee to bring in for all the others on the call with me and we’ll all have a bunch of cups and drain the urn pretty damn quick but by that time the call is over and I can dash out and order another 6 shot mocha down at the bakery which is fine and but I always wish I had a bit more time so I could run up to the other shop where I order my lunch coffee because they use better beans and the people who work there are much nicer and always know what I want before I even order because I’m there everyday and I always order the same thing except on the days when it’s hot out or I don’t feel like coffee and then I’ll walk down to the corner store and take a 6 pack of Jolt soda back to the desk with me to drink during the last hour or two at the office and I almost always have a Jolt soda or two on my commute home because I find it calms me down a bit after all that coffee which I think is because of the extra sugar kind of like when you give hyperactive kids speed to calm them down I’m pretty sure it’s the same with me because by the time I get home I don’t feel like I’ve had any coffee at all and I get a little sleepy so I’ll either have a tea or another couple cans of Jolt soda while I’m fixing dinner or watching the evening news and I almost always have a big glass of Coke with diner because I think it makes the food taste better because the bubbles and the flavour of the drink accents almost every type of food out there which is why you can buy coke and pretty much any restaurant on the planet from the dumpy dives to the best of the best 4 star type restaurants in almost any city you visit and that’s why I like to have a coke with dinner but that’s really the only time I drink it because I prefer Jolt if I going to just drink a soda because I don’t think it tastes very good with food but it tastes better by itself then coke does but really when it comes down to it I prefer coffee in almost any form except the time a doctor told me he was going to give me a coffee enema which is you ask me is better than a Jolt soda enema because coffee is nice and warm but Jolt has bubbles and I think that might work to clean out your insides but I think it would also make you fart which coffee wouldn’t because it isn’t carbonated but I’m not a doctor so I wouldn’t know for sure but I do know they don’t give Jolt soda enemas because that’s just silly and I think it might hurt but none of this really matters because I didn’t let the doctor give me a coffee enema OR a Jolt soda enema hah ha ha ha ha.

Snort!!! Okay, you win…

Shouldn’t this thread be in Café Society?

I used to be highly caffeinated… I’d drink 32 oz of Dunkin Donuts on the train ride in to work, get a venti Starbucks once I got to work, another at lunch, and another for the train ride home. Then, I’d pick up another 32 oz Dunkin Donuts on the way home from the train station.

Then, in the interest of saving money, I bought a pod coffee maker for work, and I’d drink about 4 cups of those in place of the 3 starbucks (probably equaled out).

And if it was summer, there was often a couple of cans of Diet Coke or iced coffee thrown into the mix.

Now I drink a mug in the morning, one in the evening, and every so often, one in the afternoon. My caffeine consumption has gone wayyyy down, and I feel a lot better for it, probably also due to the fact that I seriously cut down on my sugar intake as a result. That and I have a hell of a lot more money. I must have been spending close to 15 bucks a weekday on coffee.

Now if I could just quit smoking…

Seven wins, and not least because he wrote his post in under 15 seconds.

For the record, I don’t really drink coffee/tea like that.

I have a 4 shot in the morning and a 3 shot at lunch.

That’s not nearly as interesting an answer as my first one though.

I probably am not the most heavily caffeinated, but I may leave the most dramatic visual evidence behind.

Wow. That is all I have to say.
