I’ll bring my glove, prolly for someone else to use since I’m a dead loss at baseball. My kids might want to play.
So, where’s this lonely bookstore of yours, LL?

I’m working at the Book City in the Beaches.
Driving out tomorrow! Last chance for any stragglers to catch a ride!
And hey, last time we went to a pretty nifty bookstore that I’d love to visit again this year if we could. I think I might have the business card in a drawer at home if no one can remember what the place was, but I’m hoping someone does. Anyone else interested in some used-book browsing?
I’ll doublecheck my address, but I think it should be correct. You rock, Cerowyn.
Thanks, Sunspace. I’ll make sure I take an early bus so that I’m there by 10:30.
Hmm, just noticed that I have two offers to pick me up at the bus station. Since I’m already imposing on you for your floor, Cerowyn, maybe I’ll let Sunspace come pick me up.
In any case, you’re both wiggedy wack. Which I’m told is a compliment.
Sounds good. The ferry is six bucks, and you’ll need at least one subway fare to get there ($2.25). There’s a boat every half an hour, so if we miss the 11:15, it’s not too bad.
Mebbe later we can all go en masse to Book City and drive Lissla Lissar crazy with moronic book questions…
Sent ya directions, Eonwe. What’s your ETA? Do I have time to vaccuum up all the Fatcat fur tomorrow?
Er… just now looking at the clock, “tomorrow” is “now”. Okay, so Friday. Do I have time to vacuum up Fatcat fur on Friday?
Heh. Got the directions.
I’m thinking it’ll be around 11PM when we roll in tomorrow (er, today). If we deviate dramatically we’ll call you. I’m not quite sure exactly how long it’s going to take, but I’ll be leaving home around 4 or 4:30.
I know where that bookstore is. A good place for rare books!
Dr_Paprika, I’ve emailed you my address. Any idea what time you’ll be arriving?
tick-tock… tick-tock… tick… tock…
I’m wondering how early I can leave work without anyone giving me a weird look. Probably now is too soon.
I do have to say, I’m rather dismayed that participation in this thread has been rather slow. GET WITH IT PEOPLE!!! THIS IS A DOPEFEST WE’RE TALKING ABOUT!!! EXCITEMENT ABOUNDS IN THE REALM OF CECIL-ESQUE REVELRIES!!!
Eh, must be a Canadian thing. You guys can’t seem to get worked up about anything.
Oh, and just in case, last chance kung fu lola if you want to go, speak now or forever hold your piece, or your photo of Madonna, whichever is closest.
Well, I’m not working tonight, but I’m very thoroughly booked up due to arriving company. I’ll be at work from 4 p.m. Saturday. The other bookstore was Jamie Fraser Books, wasn’t it?
So try Saturday, and if you flock in and ask for Lissla Lissar, you may get some funny looks. Actually, that would be fun. Go for it.
Surely you could join us for an hour or two? I mean, we’re meeting at 11:30 AM!
processing 11:30 a.m… 11:30 A.M.! Oog. Mornings.
And here I’m going to be having a man (matt_mcl) spend the night at my place for the first time in years!
Awright. Putting my face on and waiting prettily for Eonwe to pick me up.
Can we go for a subway tour? I wanna see the Spadina line – didn’t get to do it properly last time
Hope you guys have a good time this weekend. I tried to free up some time so I could make it but it wasn’t meant to be. I’ll be sure to make it to the next one.
Cheers.
The Sheppard Avenue line is really a blink-and-you-miss-it thing, matt–although I admit that Bayview station is a minor work of art. Montréal still has it all over Toronto when it comes to underground trains.
But a Subway Saunter would be Splendid. If I didn’t have to Depart in the Middle of the Afternoon tomorrow…
However, I’ll be back downtown by 17:30 or so, so heading out to The Beaches to ask innocent questions in bookshops is still quite doable.
Treviathan, I’ll be in the main waiting area of the bus station at Bay and Dundas at 10:30. I’ll be holding a sign that reads “CECIL”. Email me (my email’s in my profile) and I’ll send you my cellphone number in case we have trouble meeting.
Crazy - I just sent you an e-mail. I’ll have to show up with an “ADAMS” sign now.
Well, I haven’t gone home yet, but I’ve lost my compatriot! Matt! Call me!
(no, don’t worry, I know he’s around somewhere. It’s just hard to play phonetag with a guy who doesn’t have a phone).
Anyway, I’ll give an actual update once I get home, but suffice to say (suffice it to say?) it’s been a great weekend. But, if anyone sees a gay man wandering aimlessly through the subways of Toronto, send him my way, will ya?
For those Ontarian dopers who missed out…got pics?
