“Mail Order Bride and Sour Honey”
So I’m a dumbass: There’s this Nice Young Man**[sup]TM**[/sup] (Let’s call him Bubba)in my community that makes his living off of bees. That’s right, he’s a professional beekeeper. Now in the beekeeping business, income is seasonal and prices can...

It strikes me that any man who buys a mail order bride is BEGGING to be disappointed- bEcause he’s assuming the women he gets will be docile, servile, unambitious, undemanding, and willing to accept whatever her husband cares to give her.
But really, if a Russian woman were content to live in squalor with a drunken abusive husband, well, she could have THAT back in Russia!
If she wants to get out of Russia and get to Australia (or England or America or wherever), that means she has ambitions and desires of her own, for a better life. Which implies she’s NOT going to be the doormat her new “lord and master” hopes she’ll be!
Yes–which she will promptly pursue after she gets whatever piece of paper she needs in order to stay in the country forever. Until then, she will be, how did you put it, docile, servile, unambitious, undemanding, and willing to accept whatever her husband cares to give her .
What a coincidence! I’ve always wanted to go to Australia!

I bet you’ve changed your mind, now you’ve discovered what horrible women we Aussies are.
I’ve actually heard rather good things about Aussie women.
Some of the stuff on that guy’s site actually makes sense. I’d rather date a woman who likes to think than one who likes to watch TV. But having her constantly lower her expectations? How will she know when I need a good asskicking? Besides, won’t following this guys rules require ceasing to think?
“Husbands shouldn’t tell wives what to do”
Better: “Sometimes we all need guidance”
A group of Australian women were discussing a certain TV show, which happens to be not worth watching. I said to them, “Now ladies, do your husbands really let you watch that show?”
They turned to me in amazement, and one of them said, “Why would we consult our husbands on what we watch – do you think that we’re children who need to be supervised?”
I did not answer that woman, as clearly we were from two different planets.
From that site. Yep, I’d say that the author and that woman were from two different planets…or two different eras.
http://www.womenrussia.com/austwives.htm:
No woman likes to be smacked, yelled at, cheated on, or neglected. How many women want to be married to a man who doesn’t make much money or drinks too much?
But a marriage of any length is going to involve both parties getting some of what they don’t want, so what to do?
YIKES!
Why not just put up a blinky icon saying “Drunken wife beaters, apply here!”?
See, I always knew there was a reason that I’m single. Now I find out that it’s because I’d make such a bad wife…
