Why Did The Chicken Cross The MMP

The new Feud thread is up…
ETA: w00t!!! First on 7!

Spaz it sounds as if you have had an interesting day at work…

I finally got my resume all updated to my liking, had a couple different people proof-read it, all suggesting changes, which was good. Updated my online job profile here at work, got my resume and 4 performance appraisals attached and I managed to find and apply for 4 jobs. Yay! That is progress.

Now I still have an hour and a half to waste at work. I do have a couple things I can do, and I could start making a list for what we need for camping.

I received a nice assortment of books today. I have hopes for one, two I know are going to be bad, hopefully the good kind of bad, and the last one should be good. I can’t decide which order to read them in.

We had plenty of cake today. My boss got a strawberry chiffon and I got a white chocolate raspberry ice cream cake. Mmm. Mine was the best, it didn’t even get a chance to melt, it got eaten so fast. I was impressed that our department demolished two cakes so quickly.

I guess I need to go read trashy books now.

Ooooo, I played feud! That was fun! I did pass on one question, I hope that was ok…

donkeybear as a matter of fact I am sittin’ on my bed watchin’ tv and surfin’ da web clad only in boxer shorts. And no I will not provide pictures. Use your imagination. Oh and only a gay man would need a manicure after so much as looking under the hood of a car.

I played feud. It’ll be interestin’ to see how I do with this one

Last year there was a wildfire in the Okeefenokee Swamp. The swamp is like a hundred miles away to the east as we got all kinds of smoke from it. ICK! There are peat bogs in the area too and it’s not unusual for them to slow burn. ICK!

That storm I thought was comin’ blew over. We did get some rain though.

I was gonna do some more work but I decided to play with my laptop instead. Hence, the sittin’ on the bed, watchin’ I love Lucy in my underwear.

Ok, off to read some other stuff.

I have been remiss!

The new feud is out of my age range.

I just wanted to say that my favorite MTV VJ was Kennedy, but I had a HUGE crush on Duffy.

[DEL]AND HOLY CRAP THERE ARE A LOT OF HUGE COLORS ON THE SCREEN![/DEL]

I mean, happy birthday too.

swampy, while I’m picturing you in a jockstrap instead of boxer shorts, I didn’t get a manicure because of working under my hood! (although I did look nice and butch driving my roommate’s truck with my new buzzcut.) I went and got one because it’s a reward to myself for two weeks of not biting my nails! Go me!

Got to get to bed so I can get up early with little fuss.

donkeybear would that be a leather or cotton jockstrap? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m feelin’ hungry and sleepy. I hear a peanut butter sammich callin’ my name. Hope I don’t fall asleep while makin’ it. It’d be embarrassin’ to wake up with my face stuck in a jar of peanut butter.

swampy, black cotton, I think. I’d hate for you to get all sweaty while just sitting there watching TV.

Wow, it’s getting risque in here! How unusual! :stuck_out_tongue:

You two need to head to room 304. I don’t think Lunch is using it.

Crap, it looks like rain tomorrow. I hope it’s dry in the morning anyway. Moving in rain = shitty. I’m praying the whole thing won’t take more than an hour - which it shouldn’t, since I only have like, four major pieces of furniture to move. (To my brother’s apartment, not to Korea with me!)

Today I had to say goodbye to Mr Cheerio and his girlfriend. We all hung out for awhile (The Guy too) and they went home a little before midnight, and then I almost cried because it suddenly hit me that I really am leaving, and that of course distressed The Guy, and . . . it fucking sucks, Jesus Christ. But we did talk a little bit about the future, and that made me feel a tiny bit better. He has an interview for a full time position in Buffalo starting in the fall, and he outright asked me how I felt about living in Buffalo. Talking about something so concrete was oddly comforting.

I think he used the “L” word tonight, but it was in an indirect way so I dunno if it counts. (Something along the lines of, “I should have told you ‘I love you’ sooner, instead of wasting so much time.”)

All right, I’ll shut up and go to bed now. Tomorrow is going to be crazy, I have five million things to do.

At work, no net at home yet, VROOOOOOOOM.

Some recipes here if I got the linky right. I think the pamtomaca is a repeat, not sure if I explained omelettes in the MMP before, may have.

After skimming the thread (damn you people write a lot), I have come to the conclusion that your supply of steak fajitas is completely inadequate. Steak fajitas cure all ills. They make you forget it’s raining when you want sun, or sunning when you want rain, or how much your boss sucks, or that you are unmotivated, or whatever. So, here is the recipe.

Steak Fajitas

marinade:
a nonreactive flank steak-shaped vessel (glass, ceramic, stainless steel, plastic - NOT aluminum)
1 large yellow onion
1 bunch cilantro
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp. cumin
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tbsp. black pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
7 oz. lime juice (this happens to be the size of the lime juice bottle I bought)
14 oz. white vinegar (or double the amount of lime juice)
1/3 c. olive oil

1 1/2 lbs. flank steak
1 bell pepper
10 soft taco sized tortillas (8 in. diameter)

toppings (you can pick and choose here):
black, pinto, or refried beans
guacamole
sour cream
salsa
grated cheese
shredded cabbage

Cut half the onion into thick rings and set aside for grilling. Dice the other half for the marinade. Take about 1/3 of the cilantro and chop for the marinade, stems and all - this should yield about a cup or so. Mince the garlic. Combine all the marinade ingredients in your vessel. Unfold and rinse the flank steak, then place it in the vessel. Use a spoon to coat the top with veggie chunks. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes, then turn the steak over and repeat the process.

Meanwhile, quarter the bell pepper and remove all the seeds and white bits. Prepare your beans. (For canned whole beans, you can simmer them in their own liquid, maybe with a little salt and onion. If you want to make them from scratch, you’re on your own. :P) Take the rest of the cilantro, remove the stems, and chop coarsely. Moisten each tortilla with a little water, stack them up, and seal them in a foil packet.

Grill the flank steak on medium-low heat for 5-10 minutes a side, until medium-rare. Grill the bell pepper and onion rings until slightly blackened on each side. Grill the tortilla packet for a minute or two each side, until it expands from the steam. (I overdid mine a little, and one of the tortillas got burnt.) Let the grilled steak rest a bit while you slice the grilled veggies into a more edible size. Slice the steak across the grain, thinly. Pile some steak and whatever else you like onto a tortilla and chow down.

Happy Birthday (slightly belated) Shadow!!!

I am awake but feel like I’ve been run over by a large truck. I have lots to do today, though, so I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and get moving.

Oh, and rigs, you’re absolutely right about men and The List.

What? No chain mail jock for y’all? :stuck_out_tongue:

Don Juanna. At least it’s Firday!!!

GT

BBBobbio I am strangely curious as to your personal level of knowledge concernin’ chain mail jocks. :stuck_out_tongue:

donkeybear I wasn’t just watchin’ tv. I was also net surfin’, some of which might have made a leather jock appropriate.

Ok, now that I’ve either piqued interest, aroused or oogied everyone out…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Brekkies to follow soon cause tummy is sayin’ “Feed Me!” I think I’ll purty up and go get a haircut first thing then plunge back into work. It’s overcast out and supposed to be rainy later this mornin’ so I figure gettin’ out to do that early would be good. I have decided I need a haircut which means I must get a haircut because it will make me nuts until I do.

{{{Haze}}} looks like ya could use a hug.

Many happies, Shadow!

Yesterday it was sunny, today it’s overcast and grey. Yesterday I was in the office all day, today I have to be all over campus doing stuff. Clearly the weather has it in for me.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys - I’m feeling better now. I had a rampant infection that refused to lay down and die, ended up with me in hospital a couple of times for prolonged sessions of IV anti-biotics. I’m out again, and this time dosed up with the tablet form of the stuff I’d been taking, it makes me feel sick and gives me all sorts of odd pains in my back but it’s better than being bored rigid in hospital.

Work has been silly, of course. Rigs, you’ll be pleased to know that TK is still crazier than the proverbial sackful of weasels, and today’s gems have included finding a magnifying glass to identify the number on a filing cabinet lock, three visits to my office to ask for a photocopy of something (single sheet of paper each time) which involves walking past two copiers en route, and a request to go to the shop and buy some biscuits for a meeting this afternoon as she can’t be bothered to add it to the order I put in for catering. Ho hum.

At least it’s Firday, right?
