Isaac absolutely INSISTED he had to do his job today, i.e. go out and retrieve his Kong. So once the yard was shady enough, we went out. I planted myself in as deep shade as I could find and gave him 12 throws.
He lasted for 4. He may be crazy, but apparently he ain’t stupid! 
Just don’t do like I guy I knew from Sack-a-tomatos (Sacramento) did. He was a meat cutter at whatever “warehouse club” store, and one day, they issue mesh gloves to everyone. On the very first day with the glove, he nearly sliced off his thumb.
Seems the meat was smarter than he was - absent specific instructions on how to use the glove, he wore it on his knife-holding hand, on the assumption it was to improve his grip on the knife. :smack: :smack: :smack:

Good news on BIL - he’s out of the hospital and back at home. No further info yet, but what I have is good!
Took over a truckload of stuff to the house and got it all put away, came back with empty boxes. Sweet!
Though the combination of AC and humidity has got my throat sore, and I’m draining badly, ugh. I sound like I swallowed a mouthful of gravel. Sexy on the phone, but irritating for me.
I’ve got the MMP this next week, and I have a question, how early is too early to post? And if it were too early, would someone mind if I emailed it to them to post later? I’ve got most of it written already, and don’t wanna give it up. We’re officially moving in this weekend, when I thought we were going to do it next weekend, and phone service won’t be out there until the 18th, way too late to post then.

I finally have an update in the ongoing job saga…
HR just sent me an email asking for ANOTHER copy of my resume (I think I’m now up to five, not counting the one that was enclosed with my application in the first place) and also for the contact info for two internal references (Og forbid they look that up themselves). Oh, and also written confirmation of which managers I’ve made aware of my intent to apply for the job.
I’ve now reached a zen-like state of acceptance over this position… either they’re finally getting their shit together so they can have an offer for me by Friday, or they’ve decided to keep throwing red tape at me until they can finally find the loophole they need not to hire me on. Either way, if I don’t have something by next week, I’m calling it a day and moving on to the next best thing.
Oy.
Where’s the cooling rain they promised us, huh??? I sat in the office in a sweater all day because I was freezing, then walked to my car and literally felt whomped by the heat. Dang!!
Supper tonight will be chickie, made with BBBobbio’s Golden Glo recipe - broiled, not grilled, because it’s too hot to clean the grill. After supper, the bathtub will be installed. In theory.
Daughter doesn’t get a day off till next Friday or Saturday. Son in law is not too happy about that. Nor is he happy about having to use my un-airconditioned van in his job searches. Oh well… He’s dropping applications all over town. It’d be nice if someone called back. Sheesh.
**FCD ** has an all-day interview on Thursday for a job that sounds really super, except for the 83 mile one-way commute. :eek: He’s interested enough to see what they have to offer, in every sense of the word. I hate the thought of him having to commute that much each day, but he is going to ask about telecommuting and flex time, so maybe it’ll just be 4 days a week?? We shall see. The other super job never did call him back, so I guess they figured they couldn’t afford him. These guys asked what he’s making and said “We can do better than that…” Wonder how much better…??
So anyway, hugs all around, and off to the kitchen with me. Much to do and little time to accomplish it.

I once drove around all summer in Georgia in a car without A/C – I couldn’t afford to get it fixed. It was pretty bad, but I survived. So will he.
83 miles? Uh-uh. No way would I do it. It’d be a lot cheaper, rent-wise, to live 83 miles from where I work, but I couldn’t handle that drive. The gas alone would eat up most of my pay. Besides, I adore my cabin.
I got a positive comment card! Which means I will get a $25 gift certificate, which I can use…at the resort. It can go for almost anything besides booze or gratuities. I’d really rather have cash. And I have no idea when I’ll get it. But I did get the positive card, and my boss gave me a copy of it. I think I’ll put it on my fridge. I feel like I got an A on an exam!
BBBobbio, your Golden Glo chickie is Teh YUMMMMM!! Both menfolkses agreed it should be part of a regular rotation. I didn’t broil it, but I baked it in a pan with maybe a quarter inch of the cider mixture in the bottom. Very tender and moist. Have you ever made it with white wine instead of cider vinegar? I was thinking of trying that.
Scruffy and Bernie are getting beautificated on Saturday. Bernie is being bathed and having her nails trimmed, Scruffy is being shaved - her hair is out of control!! She’s almost got dreds so she needs some work. Last time she was groomed, she ended up looking like a little puppy hooker.

The menfolkses are in the basement, plumbing the bathtub. They don’t need me and I don’t want to mess around with it, so I’m staying up here and staying clean. After all, I cooked supper and did the dishes.

Well here is the job situtation. There are currently 5 part-timers in my position. There will be 2 left when all is said and done.
Our options:
Two of us will remain as Teaching Assistants. We will have to let HR know by a certain date (to be determined) if we would like to be considered for this position. If only two of us would like to, then we automatically get the position. If more than would like to remain, it goes my seniority, which i have the least amount of in the group.
We each will have a private meeting with our HR Service Partner and go from there. They will discuss our options individually with us. Meeting will more than likely be near the end of the month, but they told us to start applying now if we would like.
I’m really thinking I’m going to opt for Option 3. Look for a new job. Plus if I can get a few more hours a week, I can sock that money away into savings. Now to update my resume, and start applying away!

It’s actually cooler here today. The high temp was only 94! Why, I’m surprised I didn’t see an iceberg floatin’ in the pool. They keep promisin’ storms tonight and tomorrow. I’m waitin’. :dubious:
Supper tonight was BLT’s and chips. This was followed by a dip in the pool. Tonight is also spend the night night (YAY!). Tomorrow I am workin’ from home just cause there’s less distractions and I have a whole whack of voice apps to listen to and find stuff that might need to be corrected. This means that Thursday, provided we are all not blown away, I get to let folks know what needs to be corrected. They all love me for that. Well, they should love me cause its’ better than gettin’ berated by underwriting.

Got 3 or 4 boxes unpacked today and stuff put away and the boxes broken down (I moved in 2 years ago. No, I don’t procrastinate much, why do you ask?). Also put the shelves in this nice little media cabinet I got a year ago. The spacing is odd, I won’t be able to get DVDs on all the shelves. Hrmphs. Also still need to figure out how to get the masking tape they put on the glass for shipping off. It does not want to be removed.
Tomorrow I go up to bogette’s to visit. I will be fed birthday cake. Yummy!
