It’s pretty darn unique; the only hits on Google that aren’t me are references to a character in Glorantha (Runequest).
My dopername comes from me misunderstanding the song in the Cal Worthington commercials when I was a kid in CA. He (or whoever sang in the commercials) was really singing “If you want a car or truck go see Cal”. I heard, “If you want a car or truck, pussycow”. I haven’t heard that commercial since I was 9, but I never forgot it and how confused I was.
Well, I am surprised to find out since joining the SDMB that several people misunderstood those lyrics and in the exact same way. I even did a Google on my dopername and found there is a band called pussycow. WOW!
I’m a bluegrass musician - a flatpicker to be precise.
And I loves me some porch pickin’
Simple enough.
I liked the name Foxy Jackson (Tiffani Thiessen’s character on News Radio) but I didn’t want to be a copy-cat, so I came up with foxymoron instead.
I like the way ‘foxy’ sounds, kinda sexy and tough. Like I’d like to be.
I don’t think I’m either foxy or a moron, but moderately attractive and occasionally ditzy doesn’t really flow as a username.
I had originally signed up with my real name and after a while thought the better of such a move. At around the same time I was researching Irish folklore and came across a creature I’d not heard of before, the Cluricaun. Depending on which authority you go with they’re either closely related to leprechauns or they are leprechauns gone wild. Cluricaun are described as solitary creatures who rob wine cellars and ride sheep and shepherds dogs around fields so that the animals are found mud covered and exhausted the next morning.
Sounded like fun to me…
It came to me in a dream.
I’m hairy, i.e. bearish and I live in the south Georgia swamps. 'Nuff said!
That looks like a good sig or you. I enjoy FPS sniper rifles as well. It’s great to here the players complain “I was running, then I died. What happened?”
My username is for Baron Silas Greenback, the evil toad from my favourite cartoon, Dangermouse[sup]tm[/sup].
I didn’t anything with a number behind it, so I saw an empty beer next to my computer and I was listening to music. No real personal or even humorous anecdote.
Mine’s boring. It’s just my first name (Norine) and my last initial (W). I used it because ever since we’ve had the 'net (going on 11 years now), my ISP provided me with an email addy that was ‘norinew@whateveritwas.net’ So that’s always been whatever user name I needed. When I registered for the SDMB (my first ever message board), it never even ocurred to me to use any other name. I had no idea that folks would read it as “nori-new” until different folks in threads started addressing me as “nori”. I’ve thought about changing it to something more imaginative, but everyone knows me as norinew now, so it doesn’t matter.
This guy?
As I have related elsewhere, my username comes from a nickname bestowed upon me by friends many years ago. It was on a fishing trip where, day after day, no one caught any fish until I had managed to catch two trout. They began calling me Heap Big Chief TwoTrouts and the last part of the name stuck.
**SILENUS: ** *God of Beer Buddies and Drinking Companions. He’s fat, bald, hairy and drunk. *
**SILENUS ** *is the teacher and debauched buddy of DIONYSUS, and taught him such tricks as balacing a wine glass on your nose and how to open a bottle of wine with your teeth.
We don’t know exactly what happened to SILENUS, but we know he was granted immortality by the Gods. We have the feeling we might have seen him here and there over the years; the fat bald bearded character who is always seen drunk and incapable slumped in the corners of pubs. *
The wife’s name is Denise and I fit the description!
My username started out as vanillanice after Vanilla Ice.
Now I’m just vanilla.
l. I wanted something short, so if someone wanted to mention it in a reply it wouldn’t take all afternoon to type it.
-
I wanted something completely anonymous because some jerk on another board once got a little too angry at my disagreements with him. No longer a concern, BTW, I’m sure I’ve given away enough info by now that anyone could find me.
-
I didn’t like the first name I chose when I joined here.
-
While I had it in back of my mind to select a new name I was walking around without my glasses and saw a distant sign that said “Plaza” and I thought it said “Plan B.” That seemed odd to me. I got closer and read the sign correctly and thought that Plan B would be a good name since it was my second choice.
-
I like the idea of always having a Plan B ready.
Virgem tigre is portuguese for Virgin Tiger. I am 17 and still a virgin( which i am very proud of!!!) but most people sy i have the sexuality of a tiger? So thats how i came up with it.
My name is Kelly, and I was born on May 0, 1978.
And here I thought you were so clever, to combine ‘foxy’ with ‘oxymoron’ – makin some kind of internally contradictory comment about foxy…
cute name!
(I already explained mine on the other thread)
Well, that too. I mean, I was trying to come up with something that went with foxy, and that was the first and most obvious choice for me. I am clever, dammit!
I thank you.
We’re picking apart the Odyssey in one of my classes, and I was flipping through when I found this quote…
…and I thought it sounded cool, so why not?
