That was my favorite game on the SNES. One time - one stinking time - I managed to beat the game. It was an all-day marathon session, because one of the crucial flaws in the game was you couldn’t save at a certain level and then come back to it. There were passwords that would let you skip levels, but the only weapon you had when you got there was a water pistol, which was totally inadequate for the higher levels.
It was a fun game that has lots of potential to be re-done for the newer systems. I’d even consider buying a Gamecube to play it on.
Oh I would -so- love a re-release of that one! I spent an entire summer beating that dang game, and I recall after finally beating it (and going to the ‘secret level’ at the end) literally running over to the all-night convenience store my roomate worked in at 3 AM to tell him the FANTASTIC news! (He was less than thrilled. I don’t think he realized the significance! I’d SAVED THE NEIGHBORHOOD from ZOMBIES!)
This was one of my favorites as well. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board recently rated the game for Wii release, which means that it could eventually show up on Nintendo’s Virtual Console.
(There was also a little-known follow-up called Ghoul Patrol released by JVC.)
