The miracle of pizza is that it can be eaten for any meal. It already is a valid breakfast choice, or so some would say. And by “some,” I mean “I.”
I found frozen breakfast pizza (egg, cheese, bacon on a crust) at an Aldi in Chicago back in the spring. I liked the one I bought, but I haven’t seen it since.
A Papa John’s near my old university had them for a while. Standard crust, white gravy (the base of sausage gravy), cheese, scrambled egg, and I got a few veggie toppings on it. Pretty good stuff.
I’m surprised you’ve never heard of it. I see it all the time in the stores.
The question you seem to want to ask is why there doesn’t seem to be a national chain that delivers breakfast pizza. My guess is that it’s just not that popular. Breakfast is more of a rush meal for most people. And this sort of thing doesn’t work for rush orders unless you have enough orders to keep it already prepared.
People who want it probably just get the kind you can quickly heat up in the microwave.
No delivery is a feature, not a bug. It means you have to crawl out of bed hungover, head pounding, oh god make it stop. But you lurch forward zombie-like on the promise of a greasy meaty cheesy breakfast burrito. The only thing that can restore balance to the Force.
I’ve heard it said that breakfast burrito delivery was an important factor in the Fall of Rome…
Casey’s makes great breakfast pizza. It has a cheese sauce and eggs and sausage or bacon. They make great pizza the rest of the day, too. Even more impressive when you remember that they’re just a gas station. And I’d say their pizza is better than almost any deliver chain. Certainly better than Papa John’s, Domino’s and Pizza Hut.
What if you order a pepperoni pizza just for breakfast the few days? It’s just fantastic to dip in coffee.
My local gas station/convenience store serves a breakfast pizza. I’ve never bought it because it looks impossible to eat while driving.
Local bagel shop has a bagel pizza (bagel with sauce, cheese, pepperoni run through the toaster) that people seem to eat for breakfast (since they’re closed by lunch).
There’s a pizza place in Hollywood that does a great “breakfast” pizza: Butter sauce, ham, crisp bacon, green peppers, red onions, fresh eggs and Mozzarella cheese.
(Recommended on thin crust). They’re actually really good.
Another California chain does egg gondola pizzas: a Gondola Shaped Pizza filled with Mozzarella Cheese, Feta Cheese, Butter and Eggs. It’s kind of a soupy mess but it’s an option.

Probably because pizza is high on calories with all those bread & cheese. Maybe a little too much right after you wake up. Also, inconvenient to bring it around to eat especially while commuting.
I agree with you in that I don’t like a huge meal at breakfast. Maybe 500 calories tops, but more typically around 300-350. That said, the calorie counts on breakfasts I see at most diners/restaurants and the like in the US are quite high. Two or three eggs, meat, hash browns, buttered toast, and often pancakes with syrup…that adds up right real quick.
As mentioned above, it’s not like breakfast pizza doesn’t exist, but its lack of popularity is probably because of the portability factor. People like breakfast foods you can eat in a paper sleeve cleanly with one hand while driving to work. Burritos fit the bill. Sandwiches fit the bill. But even with two hands, you can get oil drips and such with pizza - it would be like breakfast spaghetti.
I can think of little more unappetizing than a breakfast pizza, all tarted up with eggs to make it “breakfast.” What I would like for breakfast is real pizza like 4 meat with extra cheese. I do this with leftover pizza and would love to be able to buy a slice or two for breakfast.
I’ve never had breakfast pizza, but there is a local place that does a regular pizza with eggs and extra crispily fried pepperoni as one of their regular offerings (they’re not open for breakfast), and it’s quite good. (You can see it here.).
Tomato sauce & cheese are a good combination. Not so sure with eggs. But it’s not like you “have to” have eggs for breakfast. I’ve eaten pizza for breakfast by grilling cold leftover pizza on a frying pan.
Breakfast pizza sounds good enough, but I’d go for a breakfast calzone!
Tomato sauce and eggs (and cheese) are quite delicious, if you’re into that sort of thing. One of my favorite breakfasts/brunches is shakshuka.
I wouldn’t know because I’ve never tried anything like it. Can’t even imagine the taste.
I’ve made breakfast pizza using biscuit dough spread over a cast iron skillet. Add raw scrambled eggs, partially cooked sausage or bacon & shredded cheese. bake till done.
