Well you got 4 posts written at essentially the same time that all said essentially the same thing. Maybe you should have just pitted her stupidity and not wondered why no one else had yet.
BTW: Where did you hear about this? I’m wondering if this was a lightly covered story and more from gossip/entertainment type news.
I don’t recall any Alec Baldwin threads, how long ago and what were they about?
They “pitted” her on the Fox News “Redeye” show last night. They said the same stuff as most here are saying: She apparently is an idiot.
They asked “Why would kharma, if such a force exists, punish the poor folk in the Sichuan province be made to suffer for something the political leadership is doing?”…
Cool. Now we can pit Sharon Stone for being an ass.
What a moronic thing to say. As if the peasants in China who were killed have a damn thing to do with Chinese governmental policy on Tibet. It shows such a lack of compassion.
Secondly, why in the hell would Sharon Stone thinks she even needs to comment on such a thing. Like the words of the brilliant Ms. Stone are going to force a turnaround by China on their Tibetian policies. Face it, Sharon, you are no Richard Gere.
I forgot about that, didn’t he get a foot taken off or something? I wonder what that was karmic payback for? Maybe he pulled the legs off a gecko or something.
What really makes me angry about Sharon Stone is that she’s apparently inspired that idiotic “Redeye” crew to say something that I can actually agree with. I feel dirty…
I did see a headline about Stone’s movies getting banned in China. I didn’t bother to read the article. As for Alec Baldwin, he’ll move to Canada when NBC stops paying him (or pays him in Canadian dollars). But why bring him up - did he say something equally stupid recently? Only time I see A. Baldwin is on 30 Rock.
When I read the story and heard that her comments caused the founder of one of China’s largest theatre chains to refuse to show her movies my first reaction was:
Not to defend the stupidity of Sharon Stone at all but, while on the red carpet at Cannes, she was asked her thoughts on the recent devastating earthquake in China, when she somehow segued into wondering if kharma had anything to do with the earthquakes, since Chine was not being so nice to her friend, the Dalai Lama. Same difference, I know.
WHy bring him up? to counter the ‘she’s just an airhead actor, not a nationally recognized religious leader, who cares what she thinks’. During the election, he promised to move out of the country if Bush won. I believe he wasn’t the only actor saying it, but fuck if I can recall who else was on the list.
So that makes two actors (with no discernible political following) vs. a high-profile, politically influential religious leader. Still don’t quite see what kind of equivalency you’re fishing for…
