It’s been a little over a month now since Jenna won Survivor: Amazon by a landslide vote, and, frankly, it still pisses me off. A few days after the finale aired, I wrote a very detailed analysis of all the players’ votes, but the computer froze before I could post it. In the end, though, I came down to three possible conclusions:[list=1][li]Everyone except for Butch felt sorry for Jenna, whose mom had cancer.[/li][li]Editing of the show did not show the reasons why people voted for Jenna.[/li][li]The voters where influenced, badgered, or bribed into voting for Jenna by the executive producer. [/li][/list=1]Any of these three reasons made it pointless to have watched the show up until the very end. By no account could Jenna have been said to outwit or outplayed the others (she obviously outlasted, but for most of the game it seemed to because she was attractive to some degree to Rob).
#1 is a pathetic reason to give someone a million dollars in a show that is supposed to be a cuthroat battle of surviving and interpersonal political skills.
If it was #2, the only reason that I can see that it was done that way was because of the gambling scandal. In otherwords, the editors where trying to lead people away from the idea that Jenna could even come close to winning as much as possible, to try and preserve at least some surprise in the game. However, since I purposefully did not read about the scandal, I was shocked, not suprised.
I don’t see how it could be #3, since you would think that the producers would try and guide the players towards someone interesting or at least somewhat deserving of a win, not someone who’s going to go across the street for a Playboy shoot immediately after the finale.
Because of this, I cannot think of a reason why I should trust the show from this point on. Is there any reason why I should?
(Okay, I’ve been a fan of the show since the beginning, so you can’t expect me to take to heart the explanation that the show sucks and I never should have watched it in the first place. 
)
