There are tons of references online for “Ron Jeremy Self-Fellatio”, if you’d like to search. I admit it may just be an urban myth, but surely the point is that
Ron got so much porno work rather less for his rugged good looks, but more for the fact that he has an enormous cock?
Two minutes with Google…anybody got a copy of Lips (1981)?
I think my mum’s still got my copy.
I figured this would be the rationale behind it. FWIW, I include Bi girls in the “Lesbian” category when it comes to porn… certainly, I can understand lesbian women (as in, genuinely lesbian, not fake porno lesbian) not wanting their private videos getting out into the world to entertain horny men, but you’d think there would be a few more films of bisexual girls who put on a show for their boyfriend who then “accidentally” uploads the film somewhere.
On a similar note, there’s actually a bit of a shortage of decent commercial all-girl porn around here at the moment, too. My local adult shop might have three or four titles that aren’t Private label (too expensive and arty for my tastes), and there’s only so many “two girls, an inflatable couch, and a run of the mill vibrator” films you can see before you wonder if there’s anything on SBS…
As a producer of commercial lesbian erotica featuring amateur models, I guess I’m qualified to post here (GorillaMan, if you wanna page me, send me an email for heaves’ sake! Unfortunately, I don’t have time to read these boards as often as I’d like).
However, most of my thunder has been stolen by educated guesses above.
We have shot a few genuine lesbian couples of actual real-life relationships, and the results are always good in my opinion, but plenty of people who like the idea of genuine lesbians having sex, are less than thrilled when faced with the reality (and thus are less inclined to pay for it, and thus there’s less demand for producers to shoot it). This would in part be because the models are not your trad glamour models, but more so because (IMO, and it seems I’m not alone) watching two people make love as part of their relationship is less exciting (for the viewer!) than two first-timers (or at least, two people who have just met).
And I’d even go so far as to say, sex with anyone you just met has a different, and dare I say, more exciting? quality than someone you’re having a longstanding relationship with. Not that that longstanding relationship sex is not GOOD, it’s just different, and works less well when being filmed, IME.
For this reason, while we’d never turn away real-life couples, we generally prefer to shoot comfortably bi-sexual models who are doing it in part for the money, but also cos they just dig having sex with chicks they just met, and if you can get paid for it as well, why the heck not?
That being said, we get pretty convincing performances out of the models we shoot (cos they understand what we’re looking for in a scene). We choose to shoot models based on the amount of genuine passion they can muster, and watching two people do ANYTHING they are passionate about is always enjoyable, be it a pair of musicians, dancers, sculpters, or chicks who dig sex with other chicks. We shoot scenes to ensure each of the models orgasm (for real), and the best scenes are an hour long with each participant having 10 to 15 of them in an hour. It’s exhausting to watch (and to shoot, let me tell you), and the results are truly breathtaking.
They seem pretty damn real to me.
So I guess what I mean is, it’s not as black and white as the OP is proposing. It’s not EITHER hardcore dykes, OR lame hetro poesurs doing it for the cash - there are plenty of shades of grey in the middle. We happen to shoot to a specific niche that the OP and several other posters may like (google my name! take the tour!), but we have plenty of competition we’re scared of.
The mainstream guys are cottoning on pretty fast to The New Way, but there’s still the old mindset that every porn performer has to look the same, have no pubic hair, have tons of makeup, wear high heels to be taken as a serious contender. Guanolad recommended LLV, and that’s a great place to start (lotsa reviews, read them before ordering, if you’re picky). Another good place are adult review sites - I hope I am not overstepping the rules by linking to the excellent resource, www.thebestporn.com.
I think you mean Viv Thomas, and while his stuff is good IMO, I am pretty sure theyare not claiming models are actually dykey…?
Thanks for taking the time to drop into the thread, abby! It’s certainly quite enlightening to hear from someone actually involved in the industry, and find out a little bit about what’s involved in making the films and finding the people to star in them…
I’ve already taken the tour of your site, and I must say I’m very impressed! Tell me, do you put out DVDs at all?
Can someone explain to me the difference between professional porn featuring people who get paid for having sex on camera and “amateur” porn in which people have sex on camera for the money?
This must be some new meaning of the word “amateur” with which I am not familiar.
Professionals do it for a living, amateurs do it for a hobby or one-off.
Ahem.
Might I suggest that the lesbians you think you’ve seen in real life are merely the ones who look overtly dyky? How are you going to spot a lesbian who happens to have normal girly traits and appearances? You’ve probably walked past dozens and never even noticed.
You see, both myself, and my girlfriend, are normal, attractive, make-up and skirt wearing women. Most people, particularly the ones who think like you, are truly shocked when they discover that, no, we aren’t looking for a boyfriend, thank you very much.
Google “Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival”, and look at any images of the crowd you might find. Would a normal heterosexual male without any fetishes for stocky, unshaven, tough-looking short-haired women be turned on by watching a couple of “womyn” get it on?
This thread reminds me of the Indigo Girls concert I went to a few weeks ago. Looking around the lobby and the venue, it was probably split 75%/25%, women to men (no surprise). Of the women, probably 75% of them were solidly built, short haired butches, paired up. It was kind of amusing- it was as if they were members of a club that strived to look alike and all showed up on a bus together. The rest of the women were generally plain looking, bohemian-types. If there were any attractive, lipstick-lesbian types there, they were hiding in the shadows.
We just found it odd that the Indigo Girls would attract lesbians that conform to that stereotypical image, especially since they themselves don’t look like that. Looking around the venue, it would be very easy to assume that lesbian = stocky butch, and that the foxy slim porno-style lesbian is a contrivance created by the porno industry.
Ha! Trust me, there’s more than enough (I wonder why you spoke so absolutely about something I’m sure you’ve never even looked into.).
Or even “X”.
Ron Jeremy has appeared in more than 1700 porn films, according to his bio at imbd.com.
He has stated that he got more work when he was heavier than he did after he lost weight. I think the key to Ron Jeremy’s success is his personality. He’s charming and funny, and very intelligent. He has a knack for making the actresses feel comfortable, especially nervous first-timers. I read once that after ability to “perform” (stamina, etc.), the main thing that keeps a male porn actor employed is his ability to make the actresses feel comfortable working with him. Jeremy has that ability, and as a result there are a lot of porn actresses who specifically ask to work with him.
He was on some celebrity reality show (might have been Big Brother or The Farm) over here a couple of years ago, and he clearly was all three of those things. I wonder if he kept in touch with his old school classmate George Tenet?
You know, if you’d like me to participate in some of your shoots, I could…you know…accommodate you. I could fly over there to the land of OZ and help—in some capacity. I wouldn’t mind. Really. Don’t hesitate to ask. I’m OK with that. Maybe, I’ll even forgo my customary fee. Really, I would do that for you, you seem like a nice enough person. I could even, you know, perhaps pay you a little money, if you’re so inclined. I wouldn’t mind. I could wear a wig, or something. If you don’t think I’m photogenic enough, I could be some sort of gopher, or something, I suppose. No problembo whatsoever, my friend. I know!, I could be the guy who powders the girl’s nether regions…yeah, you need one of those guys. That’s an important job. Perhaps, I could even pay you more than just a little money, if, you know, you are so inclined. I’ll just wait for your reply…Did I mention that I really like Aussies? I do. You guys are great…I don’t even think you’re nuts for eating Marmite. Good stuff.

I know you’re generalizing…but cite?
Some interesting studies on female sexuality and arousal in regards to (visual) pornography.
I’m going to heartily agree with kimera (below) in this respect – a lot of this is cultural. Anecdotally, I’ve known some women who enjoy looking at all forms of porn and had very liberal or care free parents and communities, and some women who don’t who are from very religious backgrounds. And even that’s a huge generalization. You could find guys that don’t like the mass marketed porn pretty easily, too, I imagine…
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I very much doubt there’s a physical difference between a man or woman’s brain that would prevent enjoyment of visual pornography. Maybe each gender would prefer different types of porn in general, but…well, I’ll just go to kimera’s excellent post.
Thank you for those studies mstay. I’ve suspected that it’s cultural rather than biological after learning about the female ape who loved to masturbate to Playgirl. I would love to see the results of more studies on this issue.
Abby, I -love- your website. There are few female-on-female websites that I like because of how fake most of them seem, but yours feels very genuine.
I am not expert on this stuff, but would such a festival attract all subcultures of gay women equally?
I do, there’s a link to the catalogue on the front page of the webiste, before the tour.
