Why the hell is Ann Coulter hosting Crossfire?

I think taggert is genius. Were it up to me (which it isn’t! it isn’t!), I would allow taggert an exemption from the sock ban, so that new suckers could be lured in to his web without them recognizing his name.

Taggert, sorry the admins seem to think you’ve run across some line. Whether it be liberals attacking your ridiculously exaggerated positions, or conservatives agreeing with your ridiculously exaggerated positions, your posts make me smile to see the absurdity of American political debate.

Did you read the op-ed peice where the guy called for getting islamic respect by smashing them to bits? Hell, it’s hard to tell what would constitute an exaggeration of conservative opinion anymore. But here are some clues for Elwood

brilliantly articulates the principled ideology of the conservative movement. Hee hee.
Wait, “Brilliantly articulates”… or even “Ann Coulter” and “Brilliant” in the same sentence.
Wait, wait, “principled conservative ideology?” bwa ha hwa!
Sexier than Margaret Thatcher miiight have been a tip-off.

Crossfire must be trying to find the most reprehensible, untrustworthy and irksome people to represent the two ends of the political spectrum. Tonight they have Michael Moore on.

They got you to watch it, didn’t they? I think their plan is sound- people don’t watch Jerry Springer to see people get along, they want discord, arguing, etc… Think of it as a higbrow Springer. Liberals will tune in to see if Coulter gets taken to task by that week’s guest. And to paraphrase december, conservatives will watch to see liberals get their dander up.

When I said “to paraphrase december” it was from a post he made to another thread a little while ago- seeing how slow the board is moving right now, I didn’t feel like abusing the hamster to find it. Sorry about the lack of clarity.

A stroke of genius, that.

Most very respectfully I am not parodying, satiring or trolling. These are my actual opinions, and they are opinions that conservatives share. Conservatives such as Ann Coulter, for example. I will voluntarily cease posting in this thread however, as I’ve made my point. My understanding is that “trolling” is against the rules, and I do not wish to violate the rules. But the reason I never “break character” is because it isn’t an act.

Respectfully yours, taggert

From the NY Times Best Seller List:

NON-FICTION 8/11/02:

1 SLANDER ANN COULTER
2 THE LOBSTER CHRONICLES LINDA GREENLAW
3 TUXEDO PARK JENNET CONANT
4 YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS JOHN McENROE
5 STUPID WHITE MEN MICHAEL MOORE

Crossfire usually plays to the LCD. No more an idiotic “host choice” than Carville or Buchanan

The first thing that popped into my head upon reading the thread title was that she must have bit Tucker Carlson’s head off while mating with him.

She’s going to be on C-SPAN Booknotes with Brian Lamb this weekend. Let’s see if she does her “screaming harpie” routine with a man whose interview style intentionally borders on catatonic.

Lamb: Who did you dedicate the book to, and why?

Coulter: This is just more of the typical liberal control of the media and it’s conspiracy to supress conservatives. And you’re a major part of it, Brian, by actually being in the room with me, and daring to ask me questions instead of letting me say whatever I want for the whole time. How dare you try to obscure the truth by asking me a misleading question like that! You’re trying to cloud the issue by breathing the same air that I am, thereby, denying me access to the precious oxygen that I need to foam at the mouth and plug my book. The New York Times is trying to supress me by listing other books on the best-seller list besides mine! Sure they put mine first, but that’s so they could hide behind their claims of objectivity! Ha! Sales figures? I have footnotes in my book that clearly show that my book is selling much more than the amount that the prejudiced liberal bookstores are willing to admit to. We should attack Iraq immediately since my book is not for sale there…

Not to exhume this thread, but I had to give props to Richard Cohen. Here’s the lede:

Ouch! I’m not even sure what a termagant is, but it sounds nasty. And score another tally mark for Ace’s pet Conservative Projection Theory.

Oh, yai-yo. Here’s the rest of the column:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A19833-2002Aug14.html

A termagant is an agant that is employed for a specific period of time; as in term life, term limit My folks paid about $12,000 so I would know stuff like that.

As to the dreaded Ms. Coulter: there are a set number of possibilities.

First, the Conservative movement is so utterly bereft and bankrupt, they are getting down to choosing between the Hooded Coulter or G. Gord. As cheery as this bright prospect may be, it is unlikely.

The first-string pundits from the Dark Side make too much money to bother with such. For instance, why not P.J. O’Rourke? Because he hauls away skads of bucks, why should he? For myself, I read his books every time, he is witty as well as sharp witted. If only he wasn’t quite so fixated on telling me how he used to be a hippy and now he drinks too much.

And finally, its like Wing-nut Star Search, they try folks out from time to time, hoping somebody will hit a spark and CNN will make a couple of bucks.

The race is not always to the swift, but thats the way to bet 'em, and my money is on the last.

Personally, I can dig it. Its been too long since the Right has been represented by the likes of a Newt Gangrene; that is, a repugnantly self righteous kamikaze-buffoon.

I’d love to see her paired with Jim-Boy Carville, except I’m afraid he will punch her lights out, and I wont get it on tape.

:), Elucidator, when are YOU going to write a column. I can read only two sentences of yours before I fall about laughing.

Wing-Nut Star Search – Oh, that’s gold.

And I was guessing Termagant was “Like a termite.” Y’know, shallow, shrill, and antsy. Who knew?

nah, that image of Whiplash Annie munching post-coital on Baby Face Tucker’s headless corpse, after thrusting her ovipositor into his cloaca…

That’s gold.

Ann was on Sunday’s booknotes with Brian Lamb on C-SPAN and I missed the program, can anyone give me a review of her demeanor? Booknotes is not a program you can rant and rave on.

Here’s the transcript. http://www.booknotes.org/Transcript/?ProgramID=1688

My guess is you’d have no trouble with a host that went on and on about the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy™.

According to Coulter, that’s the only kind of host that can get on the air. Hmmmm.

Mobeius strip + snake eating its own tail = Ann Coulter logic.

Note how this is one of many anti-Ann Coulter threads, as opposed to anti-Grover Norquist, anti-Bill Kristol or anti-George Will ones. Those guys can make well-thought out arguments for the right. People here don’t like Ann Coulter because she makes baseless and loony arguments which are quickly refuted, yet she refuses to admit she’s wrong.

Pretty much it’s the same reason there are so many Pit threads devoted to you.
