Why was/is "Night of the Comet" being shown on the LOGO channel?

Last week I found myself watching LOGO for the 1st time in my life. They were showing an old 80’s flick called, “Night of the Comet” in which I had a ‘thing’ for the younger sister way back when I was a teen(I’m male, btw). I know everyone says the older sister was the hotter of the two but I digress…

Anyways, I was under the impression that LOGO’s programming always has a LGBT angle to it and I cant find one with this flick. I even looked at the bio’s of the main actors/actresses and cant find any references to alternative lifestyles there either.

I completely understand that LOGO can play whatever movies they wish and/or perhaps they are just trying to attract viewers anyway they can… either way, I’m cool with it and will watch it again if I come across it while channel surfing. To be honest, I don’t think I was even aware it was LOGO until the 1st commerical aired about some upcoming transgender parade/festivale special they were going to broadcast.

I’m just wondering if anyone knows of a LGBT component to “NotC” that I’m not aware of.

Lastly, Feel free to discuss the movie anyway you want regardless of what channel it’s on.

Thanks,
Van

Network Decay:

The same reason you have Star Trek reruns on BBC America (!?!), poker tournaments on the Travel Channel, and reality shows on MTV, TLC, The History Channel, etc.

ETA: Looks like you already know that. I can’t think of anything that would make NotC appropriate to the LOGO format.

BTW, that movie used to come on ALL the time on weekends on my local UHF stations and I probably watched it 5-6 times.

“Daddy would have gotten us Uzis.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the sisters in the movie was part inspiration for Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the TV series and the movie), the former of which is also shown on LOGO.

Wish I hadn’t missed it. Lately I’ve been in the mood for apocalyptic '80s schlock.

I had a thing for the little sister when I was young too. She was strangely worldly, IIRC. Been a long time since I watched the movie.

“The car didn’t know the difference.”

Kelli Maroney was cute as hell when she was young, but got weird-looking as she got older, like a Gelfling, while Catherine Mary Stewart was and is gorgeous. NotC is one of my Christmas movies.

//An E-Ticket attraction!

Because there is only so much GLBT themed material out there to show? Why does the black american themed channel Central show The A-Team reruns?

According to the website, it’s considered “camp”.

Mr. T!

I was confused by this thread until I realised that you weren’t talking about the movie Year of the Comet.

Don’t have any comment on the movie as I’ve never seen it, but I would have to agree with the above that Catherine Mary Stewart has aged very well. She’s still frickin’ gorgeous. Can’t comment on the other girl even though I did see Fast Times, I don’t remember her.
