Why Were You Such a Ball-less Wonder, My Dear Boy?

Once when I met a girl in a bar everything seemed to be going well. I asked for her number and she seriously seemed interested. As she walked away I looked at it and she gave me a 555 number. I can take being rejected, but at least put a little effort into it, after buying you thee drinks I think I deserve a plausible fake number at the least.

Until the board eats your account and you have to log in again.

I’ve never given out a fake number, but I did do the, “I don’t have a phone,” thing once to a guy when I was 19. He just plain shocked me as I’d never been hit on like that before. Funny thing is, I had a boyfriend at the time (still married to him to this day in fact), but I just blurted out the first thing that came to mind.

Maybe they feel woefully inadequate when confronted with the awesome majesty which is a custom made, Victorian reproduction top hat.

No, they’re just stupid. I mean, hell, they might get shot down in flames, but you’ve pointed them in the right direction, and the pay-off, if they succeed in sweeping you off your feet, why, men have been known to kill for lesser things!

Oh nuts. I always thought giving them a card was kind of implying “business relationship only” type of thing. My phone number isn’t on my cards or anything.

Though I’m flattered.

Actually, jin they might be smarter than I am, but were we to meet IRL and you to give me your business card, I’d still take a chance. I made the mistake once, many years ago of letting a very beautiful woman get away because I was too stupid to realize that she was interested in me, I’ve since vowed never to let that happen again. So far, no one’s taken out any restraining orders against me! ( )

But I give cards to almost anyone who talks to me that expresses interest in seeing my artwork… oh well. Whatever I’ve been doing, it’s working, because I haven’t gotten any lovesick e-mails from strangers I’ve met.

Maybe there’s some other reason besides my appearance.
