Wildest Bill deserves a second chance...

… to be the rootenist, tootenist cowboy in the West! Yeeee-haw! As VarlosZ so aptly put it in this thread:

Don’t forget lawyer-hatin’, liberal-bashin’, intelligence-forbiddin’, common-sense-twistin’, request-for-cites-ignorin’, no-facts-to-back-me-up’enest, too!

Good Lord - he’s Dubya!

Esprix

Yes, but without him, we’d just have you to pick on.

So maybe the Dubya stands for William?

wishing we had the drop jaw smiley…

I dunno, I think the “yeek” smiley works pretty well…

AARGH! I have never in my life been so filled with the desire to run about whacking one of my fellow humans with a clue-by-four while screaming “read a book!”

Of course, I’d have to follow that with “other than the Bible,” which would just make the whole thing too much effort…

Crap! You mean there’s a fundie around here and I haven’t killed him yet??? WTF?

Er…

Ah ha! OK, which of you wise guys set my phasers on stun?

WB earlier indicated that he had never heard of Thor, and when a Norse myth was described to him, he assumed it was the plot of a low-budget sci-fi movie.

We are thus led to the frightening conclusion that even reading a comic book (specifically, you know, THOR) would have considerable educational value for WB.

-Ben

You forgot “inane-thread-startin’est” in there

No, Esprix, he’s not. Dubya has no problem with retaining legal counsel when he needs it, and apparently learns something from his errors.

And Esprix, thanks for starting this thread. I was seriously considering bumping one of the prior threads about Wildest Bill that have been here in the BBQ Pit, but they have been dormant for over a month.

While we can rest assured that Wildest Bill is not Dubya, we really should determine what he is.

I’m not too sure of this, because I doubt Wildest Bill reads books. Or owns any. Outside of comic books, that is. I’d bet Wildest Bill gets most of his scriptural information from Chick tracts.

Well, not for himself of course, just for anyone who isn’t in a heterosexual marriage. Or for himself before he was in a marriage.

Seeing as Wildest Bill engages in the sin of Onan (having stated that his preferred method of birth control is withdrawal prior to orgasm), I don’t know as this applies. (I suspect that “withdrawal” is prior to Mrs. Wildest Bill’s orgasm as well as Wildest Bill’s, but that’s another flame I’ll save for later.)

This in itself is enough to make me pay my annual Bar association dues with a smile.

I generally consider myself to be passionately moderate, but if Wildest Bill is bashing them, that tells me liberals must be on the path of righteousness.

Well, Wildest Bill has a wealth of ignorance, and just wants to share it with everyone.

I don’t think we can say he does this intentionally, because Wildest Bill wouldn’t recognize common sense if it bit him on the ass.

He may well be aware of the numerous requests of him for citations to back up his claims. Assuming he is aware of them, he has to ignore them because there are no citations to bolster the nonsense and disinformation he spews across the boards.

Here, you and I are in total agreement, Esprix.

Whenever I see a post made by Wildest Bill I think, “What a waste…of oxygen, of bandwidth, of my time when I read this tripe.”

Up to a certain point, I thought Wildest Bill’s posts had some amusement value, and I even thought there was a chance that he might learn something on the SDMB. I have since come to the conclusion that dealing with him in any way is a waste of time, primarily because he has become too boring, but also because his ignorance is willful. He’s stupid, and his actions on the board indicate that he’s proud of being stupid.

hehehee  WB is just short for GWB – we’ve been interacting with the Prez-elect and didn’t even know it!!! Welcome to the internet (thank you, Al Gore).

Now THAT’s frickin funny…

All right, stop all this silliness now. Stop it, or I’ll be forced to turn this thread around.

damn - I thought the dubya stood for “wanker”

I now have “Ragtime Cowboy Joe” stuck in my head and it’s all your fault Esprix…

He always sings,
Raggy music to the the cattle as he swings
Back and forwards on the saddle of a horse…

He’s a high falutin’ rootin’ tootin’ son of a gun from Arizona…

OK, so I gots to ask this question then…

If everyone here hates him so much, how come all the threads he starts consistently get well over 50 responses? I mean, eventually even the carrot gets tired of dangling from the stick.

Hmmmm…well, it’s amusing, I guess.
You know, when WB starts threads in IMHO, or MPSIMS, it isn’t so bad-they can be fun-for example, the What do you like now that you hated when you were a kid, stuff like that, those are pretty kewl threads. (And don’t start shitting on me for “kewl”…I’ve been spelling it that way since 8th grade and it’s hard to break).
But lately, his ignorance level seems to be bubbling over.

Everyone’s allowed to be stupid sometimes. Bill is abusing his priviledge.

No, dubya stands for “weasel.” Wait and see.

[Homer] The ability to weasel is what sets us apart from animals… ;except for the weasel.[/Homer]

Well, I’ve never been to LBMB, but I can certainly say that Wildest Bill seems to have grown. I mean, even after the first coupla weeks I saw it.

He’s definitely made efforts to clean up his sentences and use better grammar. And he does seem to have a relatively open mind (at least more open than he first was). But, I am almost certain that if he were Bizarro Bill, with exact opposite beliefs he has now, you guys would have a lot less of a problem with him (not in terms of spelling and run-ons, of course). I’ve met a bunch of stupid liberals in my time, as I’m sure you all have.

Bill hasn’t ever struck me as malicious or mean. His main problem? He really and truely believes in a system that you and I would call sheltered at best, stupid at worst, and maybe ignorant in the middle. And ignores or doesn’t understand things that contradict his point of view.

But, cmon, does that warrant him being ripped up in the Pit? Well, yeah, I guess. I wouldn’t, but screw that. Does he deserve to have people talking openly about how they use another poster for “amusement value”?

Absolutely fucking not.

I’ve encountered him several times now. I believe that his country hic gig is close to being a put on. He’s capable of arguing some points, rather persuasively, until, of course, he’s proven wrong, then he conveniently sidesteps it (‘oh, I didn’t mean that kind of lawyer’).

His views can be summed up as “I’m right, and by extension, all my friends are, too, and every one else is just plain 'ole wrong”. Witness - he’s absolutely unforgiving about offenders, until it was a friend of his that got busted for drunk driving, then those ole meanies at the paper printed her name… Then, of course, in another thread he’s wondering about why the police should be stopping him from sleeping in his car (and then asking about the spent cartridges on his floor), and in another, exactly how many drinks one can consume w/o getting an illegal BAL (pretty sure that was the topic).

And as far as ‘not mean or malicious’? I’ve noticed that he continues to spell only certain posters’ names wrong. (**Esprix ** and Jodi to name two), but not people who agree with him. In the thread about lawyers, he said to me at one point “are you a lawyer”, to which I responded ‘no’. Then he again said “come on, really, are you a lawyer or work in a law office” to which I responded a resume. He then ‘appologized’ but in it said again something like “I just find it hard to believe that you care about this topic and aren’t a lawyer or paid by one”, and then stated that he was merely ‘joking’.

That one, I took seriously - all any of us have here are our words on a screen. If some one challenges you repeatedly over the same issue, it’s hard to interpret that as anything other than insulting.

that came out more harshly than I intended.

FTR - I don’t hate him, don’t lie in wait to see him post stuff - hardly ever read his threads- have only gotten into 4 or 5 of them - the drunk driver, the teaching abstinence one, the how much can you drink one, the lawyer one and another about staying married vs. divorcing. So, I know he’s mentioned that he winces whenever he sees my name, but, he doesn’t really need to (any more than he should wince when he sees anyone else who disagrees with him).

I work on the 7th floor of my building. I was just noticing several pigs nesting in the trees, so I thought I’d come to WB’s defense, sorta.

I would say he does open some interesting topics, but what bothers me most is:

  1. his “stream-of-consciousness” writing style. Good ghods, man, learn about punctuation! The PREVIEW function is GREAT for this.

  2. his gross generalizations. Because the OJ trial ended as it did, the American legal system is forever wrecked. Because he’s had bad experiences with lawyers, all lawyers are money-grubbing, unprincipled bastards (or bitches).

  3. lack of citations. In the various threads regarding divorce, Esprix and I constantly asked him to back up the assertion that divorce in on the rise in America. He never quoted a source; as least not a reputable one.

He’s certainly not a troll or worse (for worse, see JDT’s last comments). I think he has lots of learning ahead of him.
