Poly-thank you for your kind words-you are a true Christian and a credit to your religion.
I wouldn’t say I don’t believe in Christ-because I do-but like I said-I think ALL religions are pretty much true, but different ways of worshipping God. Who is to say that God couldn’t send Jesus AND Buddha AND Mohammed AND Moses etc?
Tbere is passage in the New Testament that says God would not do this. I am trying to find it. It says something to the affect that if anyone comes as an angel to someone that is not in accordance to my word or tries to change it the angel is from the Devil or the devil himself trying to deceive.
Guin,
You said you believe in God do you also believe there is evil entity that tries to stray humans from their creator.
Ben,
You have some valid points. I am not going to apologize anymore I am just going to try to live the way Christ would have me live and let my actions(or my words on this board)speak. The only thing I wonder if maybe you have been blinded by intellectual thought. Have you ever read Romans 1:18-23?
Fenris,
I will give you my take on where Jews that do not believe in Christ will end up. It may or may not be correct. I too have wondered about this and asked some very smart people that have studied the word alot more than me. Like I said this could wrong, the Jews will be held to the law and if they live by the law and our righteous, I think they will go to Heaven. But from what I have read the law is very hard to live by and it would take very righteous person to indeed live by it.
I agree with this. A person has a free will to sin or not to sin. The Devil and his cronies may tempt but it is up to the individual to give in or stand up to the temptation.
Sister Coyote: Only egotistical demigods need worship.
God encourages worship not because it does anything for Him (hey, when you have seraphim who love and adore you, who cares what a bunch of Homo sapiens may think?), but because the state of bringing oneself into a loving relationship with the Almighty fosters a healthy mental state in man – neither too conceited nor too ego-destructive – and you and I have seen both in our days on these boards!
Guin and Sr. C, while I happen to hold to the philosophia perennis like you (something of God can be seen in every belief system), there are nonetheless some strong disagreements on matters important to one’s behavior as between them – and even within them. (Contrast Ruhollah Khomeini and Mohandas Gandhi, or Wildest Bill and myself – not implying anything by those two particular comparisons, mind you! :D) Not arguing here for a particular view – although I’ll be glad to do that elsewhere – but simply raising the clear point that, while our rose-colored glasses show us the similarities, we do need to take note of the differences too.
The verse I was referring to was Galatians 1 6 through 8:
I am astainished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ an are turning to a different gospel. - 7)wgucg us really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and trying to prevert the gospel of Christ. 8. But even if we or an angel from Heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be enternally condemned.
The Koran Andros, if I am not mistaken, was written way after the Bible.
I guess it was to hard for you to resist. Huh. But yea I even screwed my transcibing. But in my defense I did not look at the screen hardly any when I was typing. Learned that from typing 101 back when I was in High School. (but I forgot that you are suppose to review before you submit) whoops!
I could be wrong, Bill, but I think Sister Coyote was giving you the opportunity for a do-over. In any event, I would be interested in knowing how the original that you mis-transcribed was supposed to read. So, I’ll explicitly offer you an opportunity to re-post the following, without the transcription errors:
Your answer makes no sense by the rules you follow.
You said you personally believe that Jews who adhere perfectly to the Law go to Heaven, (and, by extension, those of us who don’t don’t perfectly adhere go to Hell).
But you’ve said you believe in faith based salvation. In other words, works don’t get you into heaven. Adhereing to the law = works by your definition. And, again by (I expect) your standards, “All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”
In other words, you believe all Jews go to Hell, since Jews don’t believe that Christ is “the Way, the Truth and the Life (the Light?)” and no one goes to Heaven but through him.
Either you’ve got a whopping hole in your philosophy (No one comes to God except through Jesus…um…unless you’re a Jew.) or you’re trying to avoid saying that you believe that God’s Chosen People go to Hell. (No one gets to Heaven except through Jesus, except Jews if they behave perfectly, but no one behaves perfectly, so all Jews go to Hell)
But God said He wouldn’t do such a thing? I mean it doesn’t make sense why would He have His son died on the Cross to save all humanity(or at least those that the faith to believe) and then change his mind by sending some angel to Muhhamad? Are you sure it was God that dictated that? Hmmm?
Bill-who are YOU to question God? Who are YOU to say what God does and doesn’t do?
God did not write the Bible. Man did, albeit supposedly inspired by God. But fact remains that the Bible was written by man, and thus, like man, is flawed.
I don’t think God gets mad when we question Him as long as we do it respectively. He tells us He is going to unlock many mysteries to us when we see Him in Heaven.
And since the Bible was such an important book, I don’t think God would let man screw it up. I mean if He invented the world the complex body we have, the universe, don’t you think He could keep His book the way He would want it to be? Come on we are talking about God here.
