This happened to me the other day, and I thought of this thread.
I was in my co-worker’s office (who we will call Marty) shooting the shit when a Sales Chick came in. Radiohead’s “Idioteque” came on Marty’s iTunes shuffle, and Sales Chick (who I think has been flirting with Marty) immediately piped in with “Ooh! Marty likes stripper music!”
“Idioteque” is stripper music? That’s news to me! Turns out she had 1) never heard it (“It must be new!” she said. “It’s four years old,” I said.) 2) Had never seen anyone actually strip to it (for some reason, she claims to frequent strip joints) and 3) had never heard of Radiohead.
Go figure.
