It’s because about a half dozen very prolific liberal posters in Great Debates act like complete assholes to any conservatives around. This board used to be much more balanced. Then a lot of long-time regular conservative posters stopped posting.
You keep citing this as if it’s relevant. I’m not sure it is. Seems to me that a significant number of conservatives here are in Kerry’s camp this time around…like this guy.
Aw, c’mon, surely this poor unnamed batch of conservative ex-posters are tougher than that. Run off by a bunch of pantywaist, bleeding heart, tree-hugging liberals? How about an example or two?
Once someone posts, the words remain up for all to see. If one person or another is behaving like a jackass, it will, in most cases, be obvious. If one has a logical, factual argument to make, it will be evident as such, whether or not a majority of posters agrees with it.
Believe me, there are plenty of posts I’ve made in GD that I wish would quietly fall to dust, but they remain, and so be it. I certainly try not to take it too personally when I get gutted like a landed trout, as happens with some frequency. Either the critic makes a valid case, and I let it slide, or they’re just another hotheaded jagoff on a message board, in which case I, uh, mostly let it slide. OK, maybe not all that often. What I say, not what I do, and all that.

Yea, I felt the same way. Can you believe that the SCOTUS handed that silver spoon MF the job, despite the other MF getting more votes? Man it’s you and me, Bro.
PS [the following is unrelated to the topic and not meant as an insult if you do not get the reference]Are you climbing walls while sitting in a chair? Do little pictures have big ears?Does the Gold run through your veins, like a thousand railroad trains? Where is the space monkey? If you get what I mean then drop me a line. If not then just ignore the previous.
I may not be a big ole goofy girl, and I am not Barbra Lewis Hari Crishna Beauregard, and I did not spend Cristmas in prison, but we should talk. e-mail? And you can give my stomach to Millwakee, if they run out of beer (Sorry for going overboard but Prine is definately THE man, and I have yet to run into people that have heard him)
Sure. You can e-mail me at dan@happyfunpundit.com, but you might have to let me know when you send something, because I’m getting about 300 spams a day at that address. Sigh. Only reason I’m posting it here is because it’s a lost cause anyway.
Prine is a big favorite of mine. Been listening to him since 1977.
Yet, oddly enough, the two dozen very prolific conservative posters in Great Debates acting like complete assholes haven’t managed to drive the local liberals away. Surely a gaggle of “fair and balanced” fire-breathing Defenders of Truth aren’t going to be spooked by a handful of quiche-eating leftie Hollywood wusses, are ya?
Or shall we simply admit that your cockamamie theory isn’t worth the electrons needed to store your mesage in the SDMB database?
I like John Prine, too. “That American flag decal won’t get you into heaven anymore/It’s all filled up from killing in your dirty little war.” Some songs are timeless.
One of these days I’ll open a mild pit about the grunge band with the song about the peaches that stole all their lyrics from John Prine.
