There’s tons of possible reasons for the results of that informal poll, and none of them have to mean that this board is “liberal” per se. Tow main reasons: [ul][]This board attracts people from all over the world. Canadians, Brits, Aussies, Euro Trash, Asians… you name it. With a few exceptions, anybody from outside the US could be classified as “liberal” on an American political spectrum. So yeah, Europeans dislike GWB even more than half of America does. It’s to be expected. []If 82% of Dopers would vote for Kerry, does that mean that 82% are die-hard liberals, or that a considerable part of that 82% are actually conservatives who are disgusted with what George and the GOP have done to your country?[/ul]Just something to think about.

I think that poll specified Americans. Can’t guarentee that a non-American didn’t slip in, but it likely would not be enough to affect the results meaningfully.

But the point here is that national polls do not show 82% of voters supporting Kerry or anything close to it (if anything, Bush may have a slight lead). So there are obviously not nearly the same amount of liberals or conservatives-who-are-disgusted-with-Bush-etc. in the country at large as there are on the SDMB. Point stands.

I have a theory that the right-wing idiots tend to spontaneously combust in a manner that gets them banned, whereas the left-wing idiots tend to spontaneously combust in a manner that simply destroys their credibility (but not their posting privileges); hence the increased likelihood of right-wing people being forceably removed.
But it’s just a theory.
I haven’t decided whether or not I’m staying, but it has nothing to do with the money or the company; rather, the need to make a decision has me reconsidering how much time I really ought to be spending online versus actually doing something constructive with my life.

It was a cheap shot on my part, for that I do apologize. I was not intentionally making a reference to actual medication. I was just trying to sarcasticaly respond to the seemingly insulting posts concerning myself. I hope you get the situation under control. While I often disagree with your posts, I certainly wish you well. No matter how much you want to belittle me, I want to (for reasons of my own) become a member of this community.
If my posting becomes offensive, or abusive, I have confidence that the Admin. or Mods. are more than capable of dealing with me.
I suggest that if you are undergoing medical treatment, you should be well aware of the fact that there are many reasons people may find themselves with too much time on their hands. And that they may decide to communicate with other humans rather than watch TV. Also that being new to this type of activity some people may push the envelope occasionally while attempting to learn the ropes.
