Will This Be The New Year MMP?

The yard it white. Barely. We *might *have a quarter of an inch of snow, and it’s still coming down in tiny, little flakes. At least Higgs went out and did her morning business - proof positive it’s not all that bad.

I’ve got a load running in the dishwasher and **FCD **is still abed - he had a bad night - I know at least once he went out to the living room. Dunno why he’s sleeping so badly these days - poor baby. I don’t know if we’ll go get breakfast or not - TBD.

I can’t believe the military still clings to its class distinctions as desperately as it does. I can understand not wanting fraternization between direct reports, but beyond that, who cares? I was an officer and **FCD **was enlisted when we got married - assigned to completely separate commands and never seen together in uniform. We did decide to get out within a year of getting married, but that was our choice - OK mine was choice, his was a medical discharge for a bad shoulder, but still, it had nothing to do with us being married.

The sense of entitlement of some officers is amazing - I encountered it all the time, including one who did not speak to me or even make eye contact after I married. He was the son of an admiral and I hear tell he became an admiral himself. He was still an ass… but I digress.

Happy Snowy Saturday! Stay safe, all!

Up, caffeinated, and off to work in the sleet. Joy.

Just tell them endangering your life is $15000 an hour, one week minimum. In advance.

At this point I’m more pissed off at the fact that the manager I spoke to made me feel guilty for having a panic attack. Not anything he said, just his tone.

We got about 6" here and the road is a sheet of snowy ice. According to the news the maximum speed on the interstates is around 30 mph. <- more for the fact that people are driving like rational beings rather than the actual speed.

I think we’ve passed the half-inch mark, and it’s coming down pretty goodly. **FCD **is still sleeping, so I’m thinking I need to have some breakfast. Off to forage.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 42 (the meanin’ of life!) and mostly cloudy for the day. It rained overnight so there’s an advisory about black ice for early mornin’ which I imagine could be expired by now. Not that we have anywhere to go or be. I shall make French toast and bacon for brekkie. OYKW is still abed but I’m hungry. I may get mean and do sump’n teh evil like start fryin’ bacon (fully clothed thankyewverymuch).

{{{Butters and Nettie}}} hope y’all are feelin’ better soonest.

OK, I shall have more caffeine and seriously start brekkie. Then I suppose I should purtify up a bit. One should look good even whilst in sloth mode.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Pssht. We’ve got 8" according to the ruler. And it’s still coming down.

The cats are enjoying the Bird Channel in the side yard. I wish I had remembered to grab some suet when I went to the store on Thursday but at least they’re enjoying the thistle seeds. The birds, not the cats.

Who, or hopefully, what are you going to cleave?

Twelve degrees when I let the dogs out at 7:00 this morning. One source forecasts today’s high at 32, another says we won’t get above freezing until Sunday afternoon.

13F when I got up this morning, staying below freezing all weekend; but no snow now or in the forecast.

According to the long-range forecast, it should be close to 70F next Saturday…weather is weird.

Two days ago, we were in the <1" zone. Yesterday, it became 1-3". This morning, it’s 3-5". I know it could be lots worse, but I still don’t have to like it. Stoopit snow.

At least I know it won’t last past Wednesday when it’s supposed to hit upper 50s…

{{{butters}}}

Our snow is still here. :frowning: Once I get showered, I’m going to head down to the gas station to top off the tank and TSC to pick up some salt for the walk (the complex didn’t do that and, while they should, I’m not going to break a leg before it happens).

Brekkie has been consumed and I am all purtified. Did y’all know that the smell of bacon fryin’ and fresh coffee bein’ brewed can wake the dead? French toast and bacon was the perfect thing on a chilly dreary mornin’. N.O.L. shall be forage for whatever. I took some boneless, skinless chikin boobs outta da freezer this mornin’. It shall become chikin parmesan for dindin. I just know y’all are relieved that OYKW will not starve on my watch.

Just finished with a shower and I’m now dressed in comfy sweats and slippers. I’m estimating there’s about 2" of snow on the ground and it’s still falling. Pics on my FB, if anyone’s interested…

Stoopit snow.

Just checked the forecast - we’re back to 1-3", so maybe it’ll be ending soon.

Lots of rain here. We’re on flood watch, projections I’ve heard range up to 4"-5" for the weekend.

It would be a good day to stay home, but gotta take the car to the dealership for recall service. OK, so the windshield washer pump isn’t THAT urgent, but getting the second key programmed is.

For the most part, my bug is calming down, but the itchy throat/ears is still driving me up the wall, and I’m still wishing for a vacuum attachment for sinuses.

I’ve got the soup started - I’ll let the beef, tomatoes, and onions simmer for a while before adding the N.O.T. and carrots, then the rest of the veggies.

The snow is all but stopped - we shall see if it stays stopped.

‘Tis N.O.S. and cold out. A good day to be inside. Also, like MOOOOOOM I have started beef ‘n veggie soup in my slow cooker. It’s cookin’ low and slow for several hours. We shall put it in containers and take it to the church house tomorrow. From there it will be used to help feed workers who are hard at work to restore power, remove downed trees, etc. or to feed those still without power. A small thing, but I figure a good thing. St. Pat’s and the UMC down the road are coordinatin’ with the Red Cross to distribute food and supplies.

Now, however, I foresee nappage.

Urgent care. Find one. Don’t get pneumonia. It’s bad. :frowning:

Yes.

Here is Oregon, which is supposed to be temperate, it was in the teens overnight, and what is falling from the sky is termed “ice pellets” by the WPTB. Not hail, sleet, or snow. Never knew that was a thing. At least it’s not the freezing rain that may or may not show up this afternoon. I hate freezing rain. The lake behind our house is frozen. This makes me a little sad for the birds that use it as a migratory stop. Oh well. I don’t suppose there’s anywhere in the area right now that’s very hospitable.

I must stop drinking coffee and start doing laundry. The problem is the cats. They arrived and covered me. Apparently I am “warm” and the world is “cold”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yesterday 'Beamer did the really, really hard and totally impossible thing that he had been fighting with us for days about. He needs to do a few more finishing things, but the worst is over. He is over the moon that he could do it. I’m waiting for my parenting award to arrive in mail. (What? Don’t get those either? Sonuva!)

Travel day today. I am somewhat in mourning that the lounge car is not going to be on the train. #firstworldproblems

Have you seenDarlintonia there?

Well, it’s snowing again with a vengeance. We’ve passed 3" and it’s coming down pretty heavily. I stepped into the garage to take some pics, and I caught a plow driving by, which was nice. The stoopit weather site says <1" - I assume that means we’ll only get about an inch more.

Soup is simmering away, and I’ve got bread in the breadmaker. Supper tonight will be yum!

Our cold front just passed through with heavy rain and brisk winds for all of five minutes. Hubby brought me food, medicine and boxes of kleenex so I am all set.

All you folks stay warm. Now back to the regularly scheduled dying.
