As I’ve stated other times on this board, I think it’s disgusting when adults use children as political tools. But the language they put in these kids; mouths ratchets that disgust up to a new level, for me. The language is not anything adults should encourage kids to be using. This has nothing to do with my politics (conservative leaning Independent. If kids were being used in the same manner to rail against Clinton or Sanders, I’d find it 100% equally disgusting.
On the bright side, for me, I think this will have the exact opposite effect the people who made it are hoping for. Specifically, I think it will encourage Hispanic American citizens to want to separate themselves from such such lowness.
So, aside from the underlying question of whether kids should be used in this manner, will this hurt Trump? Or help him? I don’t see it helping in that the only people who I think will like the video are those who were not going to vote for him anyway. But I think there are plenty of people, Hispanic Independents, who won’t like it who would want to punish those who made the video.
Can’t watch the video right now, but if the video fits your description I think I agree with you (especially about the idea of using kids). I don’t see what this has to do with Hispanic culture, though.
A video of a couple Latino kids speaking coarsely of Donald Trump will make Latinos want to support Donald Trump? Wow! Keep hoping, I guess.
You are aware that Donald Trump has said more coarse and offensive things about Latinos, right? And that whereas a couple of kids might take up a few minutes of people’s time on YouTube, that a Trump presidency would be much more damaging for the country as a whole for a longer period of time?
Some Latinos, the law-abiding ones with good morals who think that 1) kids shouldn’t be used as political tools and 2) that shouldn’t be encouraged to curse, yes.
Obviously, we disagree on Trump. But even if you are correct, you think that justifies the video? And will it hurt Trump? Why? What segment of the population is this going to push from pro-Trump of neutral to anti-Trump?
Yes, a political ad claiming to speak on behalf of some entire group of people could only have been produced by Hispanic culture. Whatever the hell that is.
Yeah, criticizing a political ad because it’s offensive or arrogantly claims to speak for an entire group of people is one thing.
Deliberately putting the blame for an offensive or arrogant ad on the entire ethnic/racial “culture” of the individuals who made the ad is something else again. And not a very admirable something.
I watched. Clutched my pearls* from start to finish.
*Actually, no. It made me laugh. But then I think it’s funny to hear little kids and old people swearing. Just don’t see why OP is bent out of shape over this ad.
Your feelings about what language is proper for children to use have a lot to do with your politics. From what I’ve seen, it’s mostly conservatives who are really bothered by kids swearing.
While I have commented on children be used as political puppets for their parents, I don’t recall a single instance where they were doing it to represent those specific cultures, do you?
Oh, please. You think I think the ENTIRE Hispanic culture agrees with this disgusting example of a sad tactic? Nonsense. I even pointed out that I think that there are plenty of Hispanics that will be repulsed by it and will be pushed to possibly voting for Trump.
Like this? You;ll have to point me to children being used as puppets to mouth vulgarity for a political cause. If you find it, I will condemn that, too.
