Despite his many failings, I’m not aware of any serious allegations of W. Bush committing impeachable offenses. There is clear evidence that Trump is probably in violation of the Constitution and at a minimum I think the nation deserves an independent prosecutor looking into both his business dealings and whether he colluded with the Russian government to undermine our democracy. Given that the House is controlled by the GOP, I don’t think there is any chance of either of those things happening unless Trump becomes so unpopular that the GOP see it in their interests to go ahead with investigations to save their jobs.
Trump’s lack of popularity won’t be the legal reason for impeachment talk. Business conflicts & the Russian connection lie dormant until the Republican Congress decides they’ve had enough with his foolishness.
The White House is not a “new mansion.” It’s a large, old, historically decorated house museum. Trump’s people can redecorate the family apartment to his taste but most of the White House will remain “unimproved.”
Bush Sr is currently intubated in a Houston hospital. For some years now he’s been in fragile condition–physically & mentally–very far past any public role. I don’t know how much “good healthcare” can do for Trump–who appears to stuff himself with junk food & avoid exercise.
As the President, he’ll be under a lot more stress and getting a lot less sleep than he was on the campaign trail.
Ivanka seems to be the smart one, so I’d personally be interested in seeing her platform.
3 AM tweets are now fairly normal behavior. Just not for the President of the United States.
Sad.
I think that the Republican Party would much prefer Pence in office, so Trump needs to treat the Republicans very carefully.
It’s not mental instability; it’s his management style. I’ve spoken to people who’ve dealt with him. (Apparently his son behaves the same only when his father is present.) Trump is not well liked in the business community hereabouts, and respected even less.
Can you watch the CIA address he gave and say that that is “management style”?
He was talking like a giant vacuous hole of self regard, whose grip was slipping. It’s not a good strategy for management. He is truly “in a bubble.”
As I said, I have spoken to people who have dealt with him, who have been there and seen him speak and shout.
OK. That’s one or two data points.
The Defense Dept tweeted about “social media and mental health” and donnie is upset!
Not fake news.
His doctor tried to warn us.
Sean Spicer said the Trump is demoralized by the press coverage over the weekend. If he can’t handle 3 days, He won’t make a month.
weeks? months? not years, not full terms.
Well, common, maybe. But let’s be honest, do you want** 'luci **as President? Or me?
25th amendment is a better option.
If Trump keeps going after the intelligence community and tries to slash their funding, how long before he suffers a debilitating (god forbid) or worse health crisis? He’s 70 and borderline obese (depending on the definition of obese and how tall he really is).
'nuff said.
There is currently legislation being considered that would require current and future presidents to supply their tax returns. Donald Trump will resign before he releases those. If the GOP wants a way out of this nonsense, without having to impeach their own leader, they should simply take a principled stand and support this legislation.
The Short-Fingered Vulgarian is 70 years old, obese, and prone to frequent temper tantrums. That suggests poor odds for surviving a normal Presidential term, never mind four years of the non-stop chain of fiascoes that’s in store for him.
I presume that it’s the “progressive dementia” part you doubt – the “old, fat, and excitable” part is readily observable, whether one “hopes” for the obvious likely consequences of such a person in the White House or not.
If the Republicans decide that he needs to be cut loose before he drags them down with him, it might come down to negotiating which of the many possible charges to use. IMO, the Dems ought to hold firm on requiring “collusion with a hostile foreign power to sway the election” as the main, if not the only, charge brought.
