How has he violated the constitution thus far? His campaign promised that he would, but has he yet?
With his hotel in DC that foreign diplomats are visiting to gain favor with him. He also leases space to the Bank of China. Both of these issues are violations of the Emoluments Clause.
Are you a psychiatrist? Didn’t think so. Even if you are, how does one responsibly diagnose someone they’ve never met?
Geez. Louise, Trump doesn’t know the meaning of an unexpressed thought. We know more about him, his ideas, opinions, fantasies, ruminations, moods, and hot buttons than the people we live with! You don’t have to meet him to know exactly what goes on in that cesspool-Clockwork-Orange brain of his.
Hasn’t he turned over those outfits to someone else? Look, I can’t stand the jackass, but let’s be accurate. If I’m mistaken, show me and I’ll happily accept that correction.
Obviously nobody here is in a position to give a qualified clinical diagnosis. But he wears his mental instability on his sleeve. Tweeting angry rants at 3 am is not normal behaviour. Insisting on “alternative facts” that fly in the face of demonstrable reality is not normal behaviour. He’s fucking nuts.
Thanks, dog.
Not normal behavior? Let me introduce you to a little something I like to call “The Internet.” It might not be presidential but as the years advance it’s looking more and more like normal.
Yeah, the trouble is that “the Internet” is a hotbed of pathological narcissism as well. But you’re right, it has normalised this kind of thing.
The only reason I don’t say that he’ll finish his first term is, I have a feeling he’ll pull an LBJ and decide not to run for a second term, in which case he might resign early just so Pence could have some sort of “incumbent’s advantage” in 2020.
I don’t necessarily think you’re wrong, but what do you see as his motivation for doing this?
Not only does he intend to run in '20, but he already announced and trademarked his campaign slogan in a recent interview. It’s going to be “Keep America Great!” (with an exclamation point!)
Hell, given how much the U.S. loves political dynasties, I’m worried that this is only the beginning of a long Trump dynasty. We’ll see Donald Trump Jr. elected in '24, Eric Trump in '32, and Barron Trump in '40.
I think it’s going to be more like “If at first…”
Are you a psychiatrist? How can you tell if he’s not insane?
This is part of the problem, Trump established some tissue of lies to create the appearance of divestment and that seems to be enough for a lot of people. The head of the government ethics office called Trumps efforts “meaningless” and has been hounded by the GOP since.
He’ll serve a full term, but it’s too early to say he’ll get a second term. You can’t judge a president’s actions when he just started, and it’s unfair at best to assume he’s not getting another term for doing very little actions. it’s like judging a random occurrence- you never know when, or what it’s going to do. I don’t think Friday was sufficient enough for us to make judgement now, at best we’ll wait to see the effects by the summer of 2020 (at best, by August) and weigh in the first term by then.
Tragedies are tragedies, but are unlikely at best. If George H. W. Bush can keep living, then I estimate Donald J. Trump won’t have any issues with health for this term and next, if re-elected. Resignation could happen in 2019 or 2020. if Trump loses a part of the congress and gets stuck in gridlock. New Yorkers can’t wait. He’d be a fool to do it between now and 2018 with your party in congress and the rest of the government in your virtual control.
And a revolution that Madonna wanted is not going to happen. Americans are lazy for a civil war, and I’m not sure how that would look like, angry liberals against conservative populists.
Here is an article about the head of the government ethics office, calling Trump’s efforts meaningless:
Here is a good op-ed from two men: the former ethics lawyer for Obama, and the former ethics lawyer for George W. Bush on Trump’s business practices and GOP efforts to intimidate the head of the ethics office:
As for his mental instability, there is ample evidence that he lashes out at even the smallest criticism. As president elect he called the CIA Nazis, he has engaged in twitter feuds with celebrities and ranted at his first speech like a madman.
While I don’t think the GOP will be willing to impeach him for his violations of the Constitution, although there certainly seem to be grounds to pursue impeachment and removal from office, that might change if he continues to be unpopular. But to be honest, I’m starting to wonder if he’ll last a month, he is so volatile that his fragile psyche might not be able to handle the constant criticism the president gets.
George W. Bush kept getting lower ratings after 9/11, but nobody in congress wanted to impeach him, so I doubt Trump will get impeached due to low popularity.
Judging from how much shit he’s taken since he said he’ll build a wall in 2015 up till now, I reckon he’ll be fine, especially with a new mansion and the best healthcare in America. As I mentioned about Bush Sr, there’s good healthcare to prevent him from losing it.
