Will violent gay secular fascists impose their will on Christian America?

I don’t know about you, but I want everyone in America to be homosexual and Atheistic and will use violence to convince them!

Don’t make the mistake of believing Newt is an embarrassment for the Right, he is positioning himself as an unapologetic spokesman seeking the Senate Minority Leader Seat. What’s sick is it will unite the base. What’s laughable is that they think they will take back the White House with that position.

The source is a tripartite religion best characterized by its misogyny. Why would your first association be racism rather than sexism?

But he’s not a senator. Am I being whooshed?

No, I think I’m being stupid. For some reason I thought Mitch McConnell was giving it up and Newt was trying to take over.

Sleep, need sleep.

The historical parallels between segregation & anti-miscegenation laws and anti-SSM laws are obvious.

Well, not ALL of you. Seriously, some of you guys could stand to hit the gym.

(I kid I kid!)

Parallels in justification based on threats to traditional morality are inherent to the arguments. It’s all ‘sex is dirty and we only do it to have babies’.

Newt’s worried that gays and secular humanists will try to stop Christians from loving each other? Love is the basis of Christianity, isn’t it? At least that’s what its founder said.

Og, I hope so.

Newt keeps using the word “fascism”. I don’t think that word means what he thinks it means.

Watched the videos, there’s always a few bad apples…

Gingry still has the intelligence of what he’s named after.
Violence is the foundation of christianity, not some long-hair
who “ended up dying in Johnny-Arab land”.

We’ll always have extremists in any civil rights debate.
(Think of christians who shot abortion doctors and such.)
Although I don’t think religion causes violence, I think people
like to cause it when it suits them.

As a straight-NO-on-prop-8-voter atheist, I will always
know my morals are stronger than any rumor follower.

Then again, that mad gay man juming on the crucifix…
Did any of you believers notice how no lightning struck,
or river flooded when the crucifix stomping began?

Kudos to that guy. May he marry as he wishes.

Because fear is the primary tool used by the powers that be in both the anti-homosexual and the anti-segregation movements, moreso than that in the anti-women movements (which were more based on the infantilaztion of women than fear). While there were certainly overtones of fear of women (witches and succubi) in the history of women, it wasn’t nearly as dominant as it was in the anti-segregation movement.

Huh, some Christian (and Jewish) Americans are going to try and help with that.

Band name!

Newt knows his base and sees an opportunity to ride an issue. Owning the base support (a minority of America but still the controlling interest in the GOP) is the first step to power as a Republican. He does not want to cede it to Palin. Pushback against SSM is the greatest rallying cry there is for that core. And he wants to be holding the banner.

Batshit insane? Nah. A calculating politico is more like it. Culture wars, he believes, is the GOP’s (and his) best chance in the near term anyway. And in the near term he may be right.

The late, great, Tip O’Neill once called Gingrich “a turd that came floating by.”.* That’s probably good ol’ Newt has for brains as well.
This is the man who let his first wife be served divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. Yep, we see how sacred traditional marriage is there, don’t we boys and girls?

*You have to scroll down a bit.

I didn’t take the OP to mean “take over” the country. I don’t see where you get that from. It’s not in the title and even in what Newt is quoted as saying, he says they are “secular extremists” who wish impose their views on the rest of us. Given the level of vitriol already evident, I think it should give is all pause. Though it is possible that things will calm down as we move further and further from the vote on Prop 8.

As far as the video with the woman with the cross, I thought one of the most disturbing parts was not any one guy, but the mob getting in her face. If it were just that one large guy, I would feel it disgusting. When you add the mob attacking an old lady like they did, heads should be busted. Particularly the guy at the very end who kind of surrounds her head with the sign as she tries to walk away. and I can confidently say I’d feel the same way if the mob was pro Prop 8 and the old lady was against it.

And now I’m off to the gym for a late workout of my aching back. 'Night, all.

In answer to the OP: I bloody hope so.

The Radical Conservative Christians have lost their grip on power. The naturally alarmist reaction is Xenophobic Hysteria.

Gay
Secular
Fascists

Nice triple play on the alarmist buzzwords. Throw in “violent” for a nice topping of fear and you’ve got something that should terrify the conservative christians to the very core of their being. The goal being to mobilize them in sufficient numbers to seek to regain power.

Hell, just yesterday a woman I’ve met once, the wife of a man I game with, sent me a big long on-line petition to get “God” back on TV. Claiming that Touched by an Angel was cancelled entirely because the network was uncomfortable with them mentioning God in every episode. Or some such hooey. I’d quote it here, but I deleted it shortly after scanning it.

So let’s keep up the good work, my fellow vio…um, ok, I’m not violent…gay…er, I’m not gay…Secular…aha! I’m at least that, and think it’s a good idea…fasc…er, not that either. One out of four, anyway, and let’s keep those Violent Hatemongering Totalitarian Theocrats out of power.

But Gingrich said that they were going to use violence in the course of imposing their will on the country. This implies some vast nationwide campaign of gays going around torturing people and forcing them to gay marry. Of course, that’s absurd, but a few violent outbursts aren’t going to force everyone to gay marry. That wouldn’t force the government to legalize gay marriage either, but then again, legalization certainly doesn’t amount to imposing anyone’s “will” on anyone. So what the heck is Newt Orwell talking about?

But this incident and the one at the church are being repeated over and over again in the national media. Sure, those protesters crossed the line of acceptable behavior in their rage, but such a tiny handful of individuals hardly portent a cataclysmic nationwide rebellion.
