Also, does anyone know what the 1,000,000th post was?
Thanks,

Hi, Recursion. If I’ve worked this right:
The 1,000,000th post was Dropzone’s first post in this thread. While the 2,000,000th was John M’s post in this thread here.
Hover your mouse pointer over the “quote” button at the bottom of each post – should tell you the post ID number. I hope!
Wow, thanks a lot.
By the way, the counter on the main page says that we’re going to hit the 2,000,000th post tonight. Probably within the hour. There’s a thread in MPSIMS on that right now.
Yeah, just spotted it. Was just about t’ go through th’ whole “There’s a thread about this in MPSIMS” yadda, yadda, yadda …
Trouble is – we’ve already hit 2,000,000, according to the other thread (my gosh! my figurin’ was right! Woo hoo!) so, I don’t rightly know what’s going on with that official front page counter thingo.
Most confusin’. Time for another coffee, I think.
We can have another party for the front page counter thingo!
can’t we?
Hey! Did I miss the party? How was it?
Remember, we lost approximately three months worth of threads during The Great Transition. Prior to that was also a Great Purge where threads that received no new posts in, I think, a year had been removed. Thus, we’ve hit 2,000,000 at least three times now and the first was probably about a year ago.
Whenever a post is deleted, the “total number of posts” counter decreases, but the post ID number is not reused. What this means is that, since the time of the first post deletion (which has to have been pretty early on), the post ID number has not matched the total number of posts. Even before the Great Purge, there were something like a few hundred posts which had been deleted for one reason or another.
