Will you help me remember this skit before I get home?

Remember variety shows? Yeah, me too neither. Except for I do remember some. This has been tickling my fore-brain for two days. The only part I remember about the skit was The Pointer Sisters singing: Save the bones for Henry Jones cuz Henry don’t eat no meat! And then seque into a funny of some sort.

Tell me my brain isn’t making this up!

The only thing I find googling “save the bones for henry jones variety” was an episode of the Jacksons’ variety show, where the Jackson sisters sang it.

The episode guest starred Ed McMahon.

It’s not clear if the song segues into something funny at the end.

The video isn’t loading for me, so I have no idea if this is the performance you remember, but here are the Pointer Sisters doing the tune.

The Pointer Sisters sang that song on The Carol Burnett Show (Show #914, Original Air Date: November 29, 1975) This page seems to indicate that the following skit was “The Noisy Speech” with Harvey Korman and Tim Conway

Ah, so it was a stand alone song. I wonder if they ever did it on the Sonny and Cher show. Because in my head I see The Pointer Sisters dressed outlandishly with Cher in big can curlers in her hair.

I wish I could say it was the drugs but as far as I know metoprolol doesn’t make you dream in color.
