Windows 10 Password Issue

I’ve had a laptop for a couple years now, and it will ONLY ask for a password when it’s waking up from sleep, not when it’s being turned on from a completely off state. I’ve googled, I’ve poked around in the menus, I can’t figure out how to get it to require a password when it’s being turned on. My only choices for “sign in required” are “When PC wakes from sleep” and “Never.” Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This article says how toautomatically sign in at startup, but if you check the box they say to uncheck, it should do the trick.
Short, non-picture version:

  1. Open the Run command, either by typing Win+R or by searching for it in your Cortana box
  2. Type “Netplwiz” into the run line, without the quotes
  3. In the resulting box, make sure the box that says “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.” is checked.

Pictures and all at the link I’ve…linked.

That did it, thanks so much. I had seen that article, but stopped reading when it seemed to only tell you how to avoid needing the password.

De nada.
