Windows 10 sign in question

My sister has a new Acer laptop. (Acer 1.60 GHz Intel Pentium N3700 4GB Ram 5000 Hdd). The problem she has is this: when she signs on to her computer - Windows 10 - she has to reset it each time with a new password as the computer does not recognize her password. This only happens when she turns it on. Once on, if it goes into sleep mode, the password works fine. But, if she were to turn it off and turn it on, suddenly the password does not work and she is back to square one. Is it something she is doing/not doing? Neither one of us know much about computers and goggling has not helped. The help desk just helps her reset the password.

If you are kind enough to reply to this, could you please answer as if you are talking to an 8 year old as that is the only computer talk she will understand. :o If she should phone again for help what should she say so that they clearly understand the problem. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Um, we’re going to be asking questions like is it the BIOS password or the OS password? Putting that in terms an 8 year-old would understand isn’t going to be easy.

Because: It sounds like a BIOS password problem.

One other possibility is case sensitivity… Perhaps she works with CAPS LOCK on all the time, which would remain active if put in sleep mode. Power off and on would disable CAPS LOCK initially…
