Windows to Linux VNC problem

I have a weird problem. I am running X11VNC Server on a Linux box (Fedora 14) and TightVNC viewer on a Windows 7 box. The VNC connection works, I can see what’s on the screen, I have complete control of the mouse, and the keyboard seems to work, except for one thing. I can’t type capital letters. I did some googling and found a couple of other people have the same problem but I did not find a solution.

Anyone know how I can get capital letters to work?

which versions are you running?

X11VNC is whatever version comes with Fedora 14. I don’t see a version on it.

TightVNC is version 2.0.4.

I’ve experienced it, too. It’s a problem with x11VNC. You can actually type capital letters if you’ll use caps lock. The problem is that you can’t type symbols.

Fortunately, you inspired me to check on Google, and here’s a quick fix.

I added -xkb to the x11vnc launcher (one of the solutions in the link) and that did the trick. Works perfectly now.

Thanks!
