So a few days ago after I put my computer on standby instead of merely shutting it down, a strange thing started happening with the resolution of my monitor. (It may have something to do with the standby mode, but I am not sure.)
Its an Dell Inspiron 8200 which has a native and recommended resolution of 1600x1200. That said, I run it at 1280x1024 and the computer has never complained. After a few days ago, though, a strange thing has been happening upon restarts and boot-ups. Instead of showing my 1280x1024 screen stretched over the entire monitor, it only shows a 1280x1024 screen centered on the greater 1600x1200 resolution.
Afterwards, if I go into display settings and change resolution to 1600x1200 it will fill the screen fully, and if i switch back down to 1280x1024 (or any other resolution), it will fill the screen and act the same as it did before. Yet, after I shut down, the peculiar behavior returns.
I have not installed anything recently and video drivers were updated months ago with everything working fine up until recently. Any ideas?
