I prefer a blade one all over. Cheap cheerful and keeps my scalp healthy. My mates tell me this is a total turn off for women and the reason I’m single ( yes, of course the only thing holding me back is my hair and not my personality etc)
So out of interest how DO women prefer their men’s hair?
It depends on the guy. How’s your hair when it’s longer–wavy, straight, flyaway? A buzz cut like you describe may not be the most attractive cut, but it works on some people.
It’s more important that your hair be clean, healthy, without a lot of products, and well-groomed (which doesn’t necessarily mean neat).
IMHO.
Not cut at all! I love when they keep it long, long, long and of course clean and healthy. Ok, maybe a little trim to get the bad ends every so often, but otherwise - ditch the shears and let your mane flow proudly!
If you have a chiseled face, you can’t go wrong with a crew cut. IMHO crew cuts do NOT look best on men who have double chins. Unless you’re going for the Buford T. Pusser look.
Otherwise, go to a professional and get a nice, short, layered cut. No perms, no color unless you are under 18. Minors are forgiven for their bad taste. And I implore you, do NOT go to the $5 cut places, including Fred the Barber, if you need something more intricate than a crew cut.
I prefer short hair on men. Everything from a “high and tight” to Conan O’Brian’s slightly longer and wavy but still short haircut. Call me old-fashioned I guess. <shrug>
My boyfriend’s hair looks really hideous because he usually makes me cut it, but for some reason, I find it really charming and cute. So I guess I dig short and uneven hair.
The worst is a blocked haircut. Yuck. Well, okay, the mullet is worse. I love a high-and-tight on a guy with the right-shaped head. Long hair (shoulder length or more) is great too, if you can carry it off.
It seems like the majority of American men wander around with these awful blocked haircuts that flatter nobody. I wish that would go away.
[reverse sexism] How like a man to ask for haircut advice without telling anything about the shape of his face or his hair type. [/reverse sexism]
If your hair isn’t thinning, and if it has an interesting color or shape, then most women will probably find it more attractive if it’s a little longer. Poll some women who know you face-to-face to see what they think.
Then do what women do: leaf through magazines until you see a cut that looks right for you and show the image to a professional hairstylist.
It’s sexism. That’s one of my pet peeves.
I’ve been finding that there are many guys I find quite attractive with almost shoulder length hair, especially if it’s slightly curly at the end. Several guys I’ve known for a while and thought were okay looking, I noticed were looking mighty fine and their hair is the only thing that had changed.
But keep in mind I am a high school senior girl and my tastes are somewhat likely to be different from the average female.
I’m with you here. Most men look more attractive with shorter hair. I always made it a rule never to date a man who had longer hair than I did or prettier hair. Or a prettier face, for that matter…
Like Tequila and FCM, I like short hair. Occasionally, I’ll see a man with long hair and fall instantly in lust. There are just some men that are meant to have long hair and it looks good on them. Others should keep it short.
How about guys in ponytails? My hair is slightly longer than shoulder length. I usually pull it back into a tight ponytail. Ocassionally, for fun, I put it into two adorable pigtails. [sub]But I don’t go out in public like that.[/sub]
It’s well washed, well conditioned, boring old brown, and has a tiny bit of a wavyness to it.
Geez, what a day to hit this thread. I’m a guy and I just got my hair cut. I went from Eddie Vedder in the “Jeremy” days to Eddie Vedder on “A Tribute to America” (much shorter). How’s it look?
I like the shorter cut. It looks good. The haircut in the first example is too ordinary. I think you could pull off longer hair, but it should be a more stylish/fashionable cut than in the first picture.
I like the shorter cut too, TN.
There are some men who can pull off long hair, but in general I prefer it shorter.
That usually works best if you use a plain black elastic or leather strap tie. Seems to be most successful on men with hair like yours.
My old Harley mechanic put his hair in a long ponytail and it was gorgeous: strawberry blond, full of curls. Very few women have hair that attractive. I hate to say this, but a guy like that probably shouldn’t let it grow beyond shoulder length.
candyass, I sometimes go out in public like that.
Actually I used to let women in bars do that to me. For some reason women get a kick out of playing with guys hair when it’s long and putting it into tails and they like braiding it too. I just wish mine would grow more than a little more than 1/2 down the back.

I don’t like short hair, and can’t think of anyone of the top of my head that looks better with it. I like it longish, the “ish” meaning long enough to run your fingers through but considerably shorter than shoulder length. Heath Ledger has perfect hair in most of his movies (**The Patriot; A Knights Tale **etc) and David Duchovny’s hair about fits the bill in the early seasons of The X-Files, or Ryan Reynolds during the 99-2000 season of 2 Guys and a Girl or…
