Are these people who for some reason get specifically turned on by women doing their thing in bathrooms, or are they just regular voyeurs for whom this is the best they can get?
It’s a fetish, and a specific one at that. Not all voyeurs dig watching women pee, and not all people who dig watching women pee dig other voyeur porn (like dressing rooms or whatever).
Trust me, whatever your fetish is, you’ll find it on the web.
A.K.A. Rule 34.
Not sure what this means. I was actually thinking of this guy, along with any number of similar people I’ve seen reported on in the past.
Some people definitely get a kick out of watching others use the bathroom and some get a kick out of spying, so it makes sense that some people combine the two.
I suppose you might look at it from a psychological standpoint and come up with some non-sexual explanations. Violating someone’s privacy is kind of a way of feeling powerful. People have also been known to commit relatively minor crimes just for the thrill of it.
Oh, you mean in real life. I thought you meant on the web.
My SWAG (and by no means an expert in sexual fetishism) is that this type of voyeurism (watching people in the bathroom) is a means of fulfilling a very specific need, e.g., the need to watch someone in the bathroom, and not as a shortcut to nudity. Anyone who wants to see nudity can go to a strip club and not risk running afoul of the law.
I went to high school who was caught doing the very thing the guy in FP’s link did. Weird fellow.
Wow. I don’t know if trying to hide things from people with obsessive-compulsive disorder is such a good idea.
In my limited experience, this is true.
I’m curious to know whether there are a significant number of women who get a sexual thrill watching (or thinking about) men (or other women) in bathrooms. We know that men’s sexuality is often more visually-oriented than women’s, so I’m sure this behaviour would be less common among women than among men, but does it happen anyway?
It’s been around as a fetish for at least a couple hundred years.
I recall reading some of the Marquis de Sade writings, and noticing that watching this (plus eating/drinking the results) seemed to be a rather major part of the books.
I expect it would probably be there in ancient Greek or Roman texts, too, if we had still-existing copies to read.
In Japan, there’s a whole series of “peeping tom” videos (some staged/some real) available at local video rental stores. Many of them are filmed in dressing rooms, public restrooms and baths, hot springs, etc. Every now and then there will be a news report about someone getting caught using a pin camera or some elaborate setup to film women.
Questionable Content’s Rule of Quantum Internet Fetish: The act of imagining a fetish causes a website about it to instantly come into existence.
I cracked up at the point where Mr Voyeur Doctor Guy admits that he bought the camera but insists that he had no idea how it ended up hidden in a lightbulb in the bathroom…
I bet he sat on it.
My theory is that the old musing about what the hell goes on in women’s bathrooms, gets fetishized, after all, it used to be, women closed the door and performed the magic we perform.
Sort of a window in to a private world.
Or, ya know, they are pervs.
