I hope that isn’t surprise I’m hearing, otherwise I fear you haven’t been paying attention. Loads of people are choosing to allow their accounts here to lapse after the recent “unpleasantness”. I’m not trying to speak for voguevixen though and she could easily have some other reason to pass on renewal. Either way, it’s kind of irrelevent, I think.
That said, I’m on the fence. I still have a bit of time to see how this whole thing plays out. I know, I know, “Don’t let the door hit you” and all that.

I too am having second thoughts. If I have a job by then I will renew, otherwise I will have to take “other” developments or lack thereof into consideration.
Times are tight right now but I will find a way to re-up when it comes around on the guitar. This place has too much going for it and I am at a bit of a loss trying to understand the gravity of the unpleasantness. My re-up will also be a vote for TubaDiva.
It’s not surprise, merely a query. (Yes, I have been paying attention except for falling asleep during the “Quantum Physics is Fun” lecture. ) It appears that some people have used the same “recent unpleasantness” (is that what we will be calling it from now on?) to renew, others to not renew.
I expressed my personal feelings in Ed Zotti’s thread.
But I fail to see how this matter affects most posters, no matter how you feel it was or should have been handled. There are too many good things about this board that places it head & shoulders above so many others. Can we put this behind us or will it scar us for life?

I think I remember someone bitching once because, even though they don’t go into the pit, they’re still occasionally subjected to naughty words via the main page, where the most recently active thread is listed for each forum. IIRC (and I probably don’t), people were asked to refrain from swearing in thread titles, pit included. Either I’m completely wrong or, since it’s not an official rule, people just don’t give a damn because “fuck” (-ing, -er, -ed, etc.) is still just as popular in Pit thread titles.
Not to say you can’t swear anywhere outside the pit (you can), just that it might be ill-advised to do so in thread titles. Or something.
I find myself very “whatever” about almost everything lately, this included. I hate apathy.

As for me, I’ll probably renew. (Renew! Renew!) I’ll wait until April, I think. I’ve got until then.
There’s probably some allowance in the rules to permit swearing if it’s an in-joke.
