Work Like a Dog-A Mundane Mutt Post

I’m back from Mass, and had lunch and breakfast, in that order(I’m a food rebel). I’m watching the Penguins on TV. I’d rather watch the Rangers/ Islanders game, but NBC has a mancrush on Sid the Kid. Also, why did God make the beer intake manifold bigger than the beer exhaust manifold?

I just got in from being productive and spring cleaning-ish. The garage is all swept, organized and hosed down. yay! (and there was joy in the land)

The snow blower is running out back - burning up the rest of the fossil fuel in the tank and contributing to global warning, but I don’t see Al Gore anywhere to stop me, so…

All I have to do now is vacuum and then clean up - for apparently the Child has decided that after work, and before she returns to school tonight that she’s treating Mumsy and Popsie to dinner at Red Robin.

My sister is in the midst of driving from Denver to Washington (of the D & C variety) - where her whole fam damily is moving to with her useless husband having now taken a job there. My mom is with her and 2 of her 3 kids as they trek across the great midwest. Today they’re visiting my mum’s family is Des Moines, spending tomorrow visiting a friend of hers in Dubuque, then we see them for a couple days starting Tuesday.

That should be [del]unbearable torture[/del] fun, spending some time with my older [del]oppressive psychotic bossy[/del] sister.

Wait. There’s hockey on TV? But no Rangers, so I’m not missing it as much as I could be…

They just switched to the Rangers game.

You can survive the older sib, MBG. Really you can. Sounds rather like my someday to be ex-SIL.

More drawer cleaning has ensued. I had no idea I had so many eyeglass cases. And a lipstick case? I’ve never understood those - lipstick already comes in a case.

Need to go get paper to line drawers with and a couple of minor grocery items for lunch this week. Then it’s back to cleaning. Yay!

Ah bliss! Everyone’s gone, including JoeDawg. The dishes are in the dishwasher waiting to be whished clean tonight when I go to bed. I prefer to run it then. I think a nap is called for. Oh and lunch was good. Everybody left full and happy.

Well, since the sun it out Mr. Taters has decided that we shall ALL go outside and do yardwork. Yippeee…NOT. The sun may be out, but the ground is incredibly soggy. I guess that’ll make weed pulling slightly easier, but shaking mud off the roots will certainly make for a dirtier job.

There will be no lawn mowing, however.

Oh! Change of plans, hubby has decided that we can just relax since he has the next three days off anyway. Suits me fine…

We had fun with our friends last night. We played some board game called Apples to Apples. It was very interesting to see how people’s minds worked in that game. I won three rounds.

I guess I should go take a shower, seeing as how it’s after noon. I kind of hate when I sleep too long because then I’ve lost my morning time and the afternoon is here way too soon.

Bored. Also sad. I am taking a dose of Pride and Prejudice in hopes that it will help. Jane Austen makes everything better.

All vehicles have been shuffled and order is restored. The trailer is backed under the bedroom window, so when we take up the carpet, we can just fling it into the back. The van has cardboard in it, ready for recycling. Both cars are back in the garage, and construction stuff is pretty well staged.

No water in the house - **FCD ** is hooking up the new shower. I hope he gets done soon, because I need to make supper and do a load of jeans.

I changed my furnace filter today - it was so dusty and caked with crud, I’m surprised we had any airflow thru the house! It had to be the dust from the drywall mud. What a mess!

For all the plans I had, I’ve been mostly a bum today. Which works for me…

Thanks bobbio , I caught most of the 3rd, and the happy happy OT!

Amen! I wish I had my Austen books with me - they’re still all at my parents’ house.

Must… go… read… article… for… thesis…

Ah yes, Jane Austen is powerful. Add chocolate and you have a miracle cure (at least in my case). Hope you’re all cheered up soon, Tel.

I’m continuing with the cleaning/organizing frenzy. It might look decent before I’m done. Need to wander out into the garden and do a bit of clean-up there as well.

gt - lipstick cases are side hinged (usually) and “lock” shut with a click. They are a hedge against the cap of the lipstick falling off and having everything in your purse/pocketbook/shoulderbag covered in messy waxy red/pink/orange gunk

Wow, sounds like everyone has been very productive this weekend! The highlight of mine was delivery of the new refridgedator. I realized when I was restocking said new appliance, that it is actually SMALLER than my old one. How can that be? It barely fits in the same space. Anyhoo, I no longer have to deal with the GRRRR of exterior ice distribution. What a piece of codswallup that is. The new one has fridge up top with two doors and a pull out freezer on the bottom (with ice maker and bin). There is actually filtered water from a spigot inside the fridge which is enought to make Mr. Anachi happy.

Today I cleaned up the old fridge which still works but no longer dispenses ice from the door. It also has a slight incontinence problem that should be remedied by a bit of time unplugged. It’s something to do with ice buildup somewhere. Lil Lestat is going to take it.

We are having gorgeous weather. Sorry for taking all your sun, taters. Unfortunately, there’s rip currents at the beach and an influx of deadly Man-O-War jellyfish.

swampy, the growling Joe Dawg story made me laugh. That is sooooooooo a chihuahua thing.

haze, is that project done yet??? :dubious:

boofae, perhaps it’s going to take time for what’s left of the crud in your inner ear to clear out. That would certainly make it hard to hear.

Off to start some big fat poke chops on the grill and some spare guts with holiday sauce. Mmmmmmm.

Thanks, GT - I’ve heard that Foxfire and Opera seem to be working okay on the TWoP site, but haven’t downloaded either just yet.

I’m wondering if JoeDawg gave one last growl at ACBG before -he- left. We’re having roast beast tonight, Swampy, accompanied by baked sweet potatoes and salad. I’ll just have to dream of your pound cake, though.

Back to work tomorrow … oh boy, some days that retirement possibility looks pretty good (I’ll be eligible in September).

September?? Lucky duck. My earliest date is Jan 23, 2010. I’ve got the exact count of days on my calendar at the office - somewhere around 1035 days, I think.

Brownies in the oven. I don’t need them till Weds, but I won’t be able to make them on Tues due to class, and what the heck, I’ve got nothing else to do right now… Plus I’ll *have * to sample them to be sure they’re OK…

2010? I can’t retire until at least 2037. :stuck_out_tongue: I didn’t feel like cooking, so I ordered a pizza.

MBG, too bad the Rangers couldn’t do it in regulation. At least the Caners are still in 8th place.

Yeah, well, I started amassing my career years in 1973 - were you even born then??

1971

:dubious:

Heh. Posting while stupid, and um, temporary illiteracy, and um…
