Work Like a Dog-A Mundane Mutt Post

Thursday is nothing like Friday. Thursday means there’s one more damn day until Saturday.

BooFae I am not frying bacon on my haid, but thanks for asking. :stuck_out_tongue:

Doggio I am swampbare when I’m in the hot tub. And late at night in the pool sometimes. And in my bathtub and shower. And in bed when ACBG… well, you’re smart, you can figure that out.

gt what kind of garden? Flower? Veggie? Alien flesh eating plants?

Ok, I got me a list of jobs to apply for, so Ima apply for 'em.

Why yes it is…if you are taking Friday as a vacation day. One benefit of working at the same place for 17 years is lotsa vacation days. I gotta use up some and roll some over before the end of the month. Hence, a couple of Fridays off.

Definitely a video, rosie.

swampy, what is your secret of keeping your slim physique whilst eating N.O.T.s with dollops of butter, etc.? Must be all that “appreciatin.’”

Congrats, rigs, on the new job. Are you still serfing at the liberry? I’ll have an apple fritter please.

Appropriate comments to all. Gotta run. Must complete billing hell today!

Tupug

I’m always a little confused by this, especially as it happens somewhat regularly. You make dinner for ACBG, you two eat it together, and he… um, indicates that he is appreciative and would like to show his appreciation. And so then you come here to tell us about it BEFORE being appreciated?? I have to tell ya, I don’t put the appreciation on hold to post to the MMP.

Congrats on the job rigs! No donuts for me, thanks. I had a Kashi waffle this morning so I’m good.

Thursdays are great days. They’re most-of-the-way-through-the-week but already-looking-forward-to-the-weekend days.

I just like to be clear on these things, you lot are furriners as far as I’m concerned so obviously you do strange things! Besides, my erstwhile friend Zippy is coming to Vegas with us in November and she’s never been to the US before, she might not understand if it was really normal for people to fry bacon on their heads. She’s funny like that.

Is this carrotcake a decent thing? I’m a firm subscriber of the notion that carrots, unless they happen to be the name of a certain dwarf, should be eaten like Bugs eats them. Actually, the dwarf would probably be best eaten raw, as well.

boofae I think you got Rigs and I confused, with the daughter and the buff French guy! I was all confused, though, since my (real) last name is French.

doggio you’re too kind with your compliments!

My next stop is the embarrassing confessions thread, so I’ll see what Mr. Nakie Bear has to say then.

Nava – Carrot cake is sweet and non-carrotty. Have you ever had zuccini bread or anything like that? It’s got the carrots, but it’s cake, for sure.

–Ellen (smiley)

Morning, all. I’m busy caffeinating and trying to recover from a truly awful night’s attempted sleep. Rosie, be warned – the common thread amongst all my co-therapyers is that we aren’t sleeping worth a damn right now. And according to the [del]terrorists[/del] therapists, it’s quite common to not sleep well for six weeks or so after knee replacement. Oh joy.

Carrotcake with cream cheese icing is the food of the gods if it’s done right. But it has to be just sweet enough and not too sweet, and the icing has to have a bit of that tartness from the cream cheese. The last office I worked in, we’d get a carrot cake from this *amazing *New Orleans bakery every month for the birthday celebration. Yumm!

I’m wrapped up in my lovely, lovely Garter Stitch Wrap as I write this. It is SO comfy and warm and snuggly and wonderful, I can’t believe it! I haven’t blocked it yet, but frankly, I’m not sure it really needs it since it’s not exactly something that has to fit exact specs to fit right. Now Lapin Blanc wants me to make one for her, except I’d need to trim the pattern down by at least 25% because the original is so big it would drag on the ground on her. So should I be a Nice Mommy and make her one?

Mmmmmm, carrot cake from Publix! Eighty-six the apple fritter, rigs! Me want carrot cake now!

Morning all! When did it become Thursday? Where has my spring break gone, I ask you?

My parents would never do that - they’re very Korean and Korean culture is all about taking care of the family. Lucky for my brother, is all I can say.

Oops, I forgot some ways back - congrats on the job, Tel! There’s a good job vibe going around the MMP these days, I feel. Speaking of which, I have a career fair to attend today. Never been to one of these, but hopefully I won’t embarrass myself too much.

<distributes bread products topped with simple sugar to all>
RE the career fair: shake everyone’s hand. Smile. Don’t stop smiling. Mingle and keep moving. Have something about yourself to give to those who shake your hand (aka everyone else). Go home exhausted. Kick shoes off and have a drink.

I also did not sleep well last night. Two reasons: (one is TMI, but if you snerk enough you can figure it out. Think about fortune cookies and go from there), and two–incredible storm here. Not alot of thunder and lightning, but tremendous rain. For awhile it sounded like someone was throwing buckets of water against the house. It started at 4 am, woke me up, and here I am. I’m tahred!

Parent/teacher conference today. #2 son seems to be lacking in confidence these days–his grades are up almost two letter grades–and yet he grades himself a 0. <sigh> Dunno what to do about this issue…

My head hurts in a sinusy way–NOT a hungover way. I truly enjoyed my champagne last noc, but found I can only drink two glasses. What a p*ssy I am. I was falling asleep BEFORE TDS. That is not allowed, so I cut off my sparkling wine.

Handyman here today-banging. I want sleeeep…

The fortune cookie thing must be nice. I didn’t sleep well, but for me, it was the stoooopid dawg getting me up 4 different times to let him out.

I didn’t sleep well because of my stupid knee. And also because I still ached all over from the weather changing or something – it was either a weather change or a bug, but I ached from head to toe yesterday. The only good part was that I realized that since I stopped taking the Coumadin a few days ago, I could take ibuprofen again! Blessed, blessed ibuprofen, there’s nothing in the world (for me) better for a sinus headache and body aches! Seriously, that was the worst part about taking the Coumadin for three weeks post-surgery, no ibuprofen.

And speaking of knee surgery, my 86-year-old mom had her surgery yesterday. All went well – thus far. As I pointed out to my sister when she called to report, the surgery is the easy part; it’s the recovery that’s the challenge. But at least Mom didn’t have any heart problems on the table, which was the big worry with her. We’ve got Lapin Blanc poised to get on the phone and yell at her grandma to do her exercises, if need be; she’s had such great recent experience with me, we figure she could handle her grandma with one hand tied behind her back!

Is it naptime yet?

I usually don’t sleep much at night anymore. Know why? here’s why.

I love the little guy, he’s so playful and fun, and treats me like his mum.

But, starting at about 1:30 AM every night, it starts with something we call “tap-a, tap-a”. He gets on his back legs and lightly paws on the woodframe of the bed, just lightly ticking at it with his claw.

After a few minutes of that, he jumps on the bed, and if any other cats are there, he attacks them so they leave and he has the bed to himself. Then he decides it’s time to play ‘nuzzle with mum (me)’ and purrs in my face until I pet him.

This happens about 3 times each night.

Hi guys! I’m finally caught up.

Congrats on the job, Rigs! And I hope everybody who didn’t get a good night’s sleep last night, does tonight. I finally slept pretty good last night. I didn’t wake up until 3:40 to go pee, and was able to get back to sleep quickly.

I’m so bored today here at work. Nuthin’ to do for the moment. So I’m planning meals for next week. One will be grilled honey-lime glazed chicken, rice with parsley and cilantro, and mandarin orange-spinach salad. The other (so far) is Cuban pork chops and sofrito mashed **N.O.T.**s. Dinner tonight is in the crockpot - leftover roast beast with onions and mushrooms, with red wine and beef stock. Shredded and served on a bed of rice, with green beans on the side.

I think I’m obsessed with food.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Okay, am off to the library to make copies of my resume, then onwards to the career fair in search of more jobs (the one I’ve got lined up is only part-time for the moment). Thanks for the advice rigs! See y’all later ~

I took Maggie to the dog park, vacuumed, and napped. That has been my day.

Rebo, thanks, now I’m hungry.

MBG, Lucretia thinks of me as a self powered electric blanket.

I’m bein’ taken out for dinner tonight. I feel so special. Ok, so it’s to Backyard Burger but still I ain’t gotta cook it or pay for it (well, ya know, with money anyways) so it’s special.

Also, I’m nanny for Joe Dawg the crazed chee-hooah-hooah this weekend. His daddy is goin’ out of town and asked if I’d look after him, so he’s here with me. I have some leftover steak from last night, so I cut some of it up into little bite sized pieces and heated it up. It’s coolin’ down right now. I’ll mix it up in his Pedigree Beef 'n Gravy dinner (not one of the recalled kinds). I’m a good nanny.

My work is done!

My post got et. Rats.

Summary - new tire on my car - stoopit old tire couldn’t be repaired, and it had under 2500 miles on it.

State tax refund deposited - I just efiled on Monday - yay!

**FCD ** demolished the rest of the bathroom, except for the floor. I played with clay.

I don’t want to go to work tomorrow, but at least it brings me one day closer to Friday.

That sums it up. Sorta.
